Another chunk of sandwich disappeared into Ciaran's mouth before he could thank her properly. If Yuriko had left after delivering the goods, he would have inhaled the entire contents of the plate within a minute. Playing with food was fine for foals, but this man was hungry. He swallowed hard, the bread catching in his throat, and coughed with a fist to his chest. Alright, maybe scarfing wasn't a good idea. "Thank you, but I don't mind sharing," he said, suppressing another cough. Once the fit passed, he smiled sheepishly. "If the food runs out, there's always grass ... for me, I mean." Greens were Plan B when no meat could be found and though he had hunted fox in his time before the carnivale, he would never harm this one. He couldn't promise the rest for the others, unfortunately. Threats were not to be taken lightly.
He couldn't help but notice the way she sat and thought it an endearing trait. He could vaguely recall trying it once, years and years past, but was unsure of when or even why. Probably learning how to fit into human society. Oh what a trial that was. A third sandwich was engulfed then half of another while Yuriko eyed the tack then questioned it. Chewing, Ciaran carefully plucked and picked each word that would begin his brief ramble on the subject. It wasn't that her question bothered him, it was more along the fact he was unsure of what to say or how to describe it.
"Not really," he started once his mouth was empty. "It's my job to do it and I'm okay with that. As for wearing it..." He looked over at the saddle, the corner of his mouth twitching with a frown, then he turned his attention back to his guest and gave her a small smile. "I'm used to it. The children with popcorn buttery hands sticking their fingers all in my hair are annoying, but ... it's not too bad." That sounded like a good explanation.
"What about you?" The plate was set down, away from the soap to keep the scents separated, and he leaned his back against the table. "I see you scurry everywhere. You seem to like chasing away the cats and rats."
