It looks like--despite all the best efforts of dominionist groups (including Scientology-esque SLAPPs against Planned Parenthood and any group writing the truth about what they're doing and their connections to domestic terror organisations), the Aurora Planned Parenthood clinic will be opening tomorrow.

Suburban Chicago News reports:

AURORA -- The city of Aurora issued an occupancy permit for Planned Parenthood's controversial clinic late Monday afternoon, hours after an investigation found the organization did not break any laws during the development process.

The clinic will open Tuesday at 10 a.m., according to Planned Parenthood officials.

On Monday morning, Kane County State's Attorney John Barsanti issued his opinion that Planned Parenthood did not commit any crimes while gaining approval for its new Aurora facility under a subsidiary name. The clinic has sparked protests because it will provide abortions along with other women's health-care services.

This is especially signifigant, as one of the major tactics that Operation Save America and other dominionist groups have tried to prevent the clinic from opening was via a SLAPP claiming that Planned Parenthood submitted a "fraudulent application" (due to the use of a subsidiary company, ironically to prevent dominionist SLAPPs and hostile takeovers which have been attempted with business permits granted to other womens' clinics).

The battle is still not entirely over--whilst the temp occupancy permit has no restrictions, it is still waiting for processing of the finalised permit (which is likely to be approved); dominionists are still trying to push for the full city council to approve or deny a final permit (which is, of note, not a normal procedure for occupancy permits--a subcommittee approves or denies permits).

However, it looks like the clinic should be able to start business tomorrow. :3 I'll be looking forward to reports from Aurora area posters on what goes on--I'm sure the dominionist groups will try something to disrupt things.
