LYNCHBURG, Virginia (AP) -- The Rev. Jerry Falwell was hospitalized in "gravely serious" condition after being found unconscious in his office Tuesday, a Liberty University executive said.

Ron Godwin, the executive vice president of Falwell's Liberty University, said Falwell was found unresponsive around 10:45 a.m. and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. Godwin said he was not sure what caused the collapse, but "he has a history of heart challenges."

"I had breakfast with him, and he was fine at breakfast," Godwin said. "He went to his office, I went to mine and they found him unresponsive."

Last fall, J.B. Van Hollen ran for Wisconsin A.G. and won on a 'get tough on crime' platform and not much else. There was no real indication that he was a Dominionist. I suppose saying I didn't vote for the asshat should be some consolation...

Now he tells us, GOP stands for God's Own Party.

The big news in Atlanta this morning: Eric Rudolph is taunting his vicitms from his Supermax jail cell. Rudolph was convicted of the Olympic bombing here in town, plus bombing several abortion clinics. Many people in Georgia think he should have gotten the death sentence, but his trial was conducted in Alabama, and he was only given life.

Eric still belives that anyone helping abortion doctors should die, and has nothing but contempt for his victims. He still enjoys the support of many a fanatic. The local articles require log-ins, so behind the cut is the AP story copied from a free source. Our local news has been running interviews with lawyers who are trying to pass laws similar to those restricting criminals from keeping photos of their victims in cells. The lawyers want Rudolph's missives from jail to stop.

As of earlier this morning, if you looked on the Army of God website, you could find his supporter reading out Rudolph's letters. I can't bring myself to link to the videos, but they're out there.

Although Falwell's passing is understandably a strong topic of conversation today, here's yet another story about how the domionist movement is doing it's level best to control the military.

Navy veteran David Miller said that when he checked into the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, he didn't realize he would get a hard sell for Christian fundamentalism along with treatment for his kidney stones.

Miller, 46, an Orthodox Jew, said he was repeatedly proselytized by hospital chaplains and staff in attempts to convert him to Christianity during three hospitalizations over the past two years.

He said he went hungry each time because the hospital wouldn't serve him kosher food, and the staff refused to contact his rabbi, who could have brought him something to eat.[..]

He described the Iowa City facility as an institution permeated by government sponsorship of fundamentalist Christianity and unconstitutional discrimination against Jews.[..]

The hospital's chaplains and staff, Miller said, have the attitude that you either accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and you are saved, or you are damned.

He said he has tried to resolve the problems with the hospital's administration without success.

Hey. I'm pretty sure I've promoted gsa_lj here, but I have a question I was hoping someone here might be able to help with.

As you can see, I have a "Jesus Called, he wants his religion back." But, it's very plain and, er, ugly. I'd like to get a nicer, more aesthetically pleasing version. Searching around LJ and Google hasn't turned up much, unfortunately.

So, if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
