I don't know if a link to this site is already available -- sorry if this is redundant. It was suggested to me that the information might be generally useful.

The Jesus Seminar is held by a group of scholars concerned with the historical accuracy of the New Testament. They present papers to one another and then gather to vote on which quotes and actions in the NT seem likely to have been generated by a single source (a historical Jesus) and which seem likely to have been added later. They then report the consensus of the group, and have published the results in two books.

This page has quite a few good articles from The Fourth R, their periodical. For instance, How The Canon Was Formed is a good, one-page summary of historical events leading to the creation of The Bible as we know it today.

From the little bits of out of context scripture on the page, this guy seems pretty Dominionist. Oh, not to mention the fact that he's claiming to be Jesus Christ, reborn.

TAMPA - A 21-year-old woman told police Saturday that a man grabbed her off Howard Avenue and raped her behind a building during the Gasparilla festivities.

But officers investigating the case arrested her after learning she had an outstanding warrant from her teenage years for failure to pay restitution.

She spent the next two nights in jail.

Adding to the mother's ire is her claim that a jail nurse prevented her daughter from taking a second dose of emergency contraception prescribed by a nurse at a clinic as part of a rape examination. The jail nurse, said the mother and the victim's attorney, denied the medication for religious reasons.

It was a fundamentalist Christian group peaching at a Pagan Pride Day. Alliance Defense Fund (surprise surprise) is providing the attorny, and they're suing the city because the cops made them leave. Here's ADF's write-up, and the comments on WitchVox tell another story. The Pagan Group is seeking witnesses:

Now, hear us out…again we thank you & we appreciate your support, if you want to support those wonderful officers, the city of Grand Rapids & Pagan Pride, please email any & all letters to us, we will keep them until needed. Right now as this stands, this is an issue with the Preachers & the City of Grand Rapids, NOT Pagan Pride.

If we want to continue to host a Pagan Pride in Grand Rapids, we need to remain calm & wait until those items are needed. If this blows up, the city may change the way that they allow parks to run. A point to make here is this, the papers have not been filled with the courts yet & who knows, when a judge sees this, s/he may dismiss it on the spot.

We are in contact with our attorney & we have been advised to not speak to anyone about this, so please, support us with the letters & do not, I repeat PLEASE DO NOT just start sending in letters to the press, city attorney or anyone else that I failed to mention.
