General Fic: Already There (Teddy Smith)
Title: Already There
Characters: Jessie Conway and Teddy Smith (with a cameo of Betsy Smith)
Setting: Front porch of the Smith house (and a cameo by the front porch of the Conway house)
Word Count: 236
Rating: So G it makes Disney look R
Author's Note: Teddy's point of view on this
"I IMed with Jane today. She's trying out for cheerleader." It was a throwaway kind of comment, just a little sister telling her big brother what was going on with one of her friends from one of the schools they'd gone to before. Teddy knew better than to simply take the comment at face value. He knew his sister. "You should try out for cheerleader here, Bet," he said, nudging her knee with his as they slowly rocked on the porch swing. "I think you'd be a great cheerleader. And then you and Jane can talk about routines and things like that." "Yeah, but ..." Betsy trailed off, toying with the ends of her braids. She looked up at her big brother, her brown eyes wide and worried. "I know Daddy said that we'd be staying this time, but what if we move again?" "Then we'll run away and get our own apartment here and just stay here forever. Or we could just live with Grams and Pops. Besides, Dad has that job at West Point. I think it's safe to put down roots here, Bet." Teddy glanced across the street, where Jessie and her cousin Jenny were sitting on their porch. He saw that Jessie was looking over at them, too, and he smiled and waved at her. When she waved back, his smile broadened. "Looks like you're already on your way there, Teddy." |
