immortalje posting in A Daily Icon Challenge

Prompts will be posted on 11 July! However, I've decided to make sign ups open all month long, independent on how many people sign up. Anybody who signs up after prompts have been posted should note that the same due date goes for them as those that signed up before prompts were posted!
Additionally, there will only be one claim per person per round.

Rules:
  1. You can claim whatever you want:

    1. RL People/Couples: actors/actresses, singers, athletes,...

    2. TV Shows: entire show, season, episodes, characters, pairings,...

    3. Movies: entire movie (movie series: complete or one out of several), characters, pairings

    4. Minor Characters (i.e. one character of a movie/tv show with only a handful scenes that don’t give enough screencaps to make a complete set with) maybe be combined

    5. Pairings/Couples: Het and Slash are both welcome!

  2. You are not allowed to claim whatever you claimed in the previous round again. (only in here for completeness sake as this is the first round ;) )

  3. Nothing can be claimed twice in one round.

  4. Please be aware that you only have 20 days to make 20 icons: If you don’t think you’ll be able to do that, please leave others the chance to claim it (not that I anticipate a lot of trouble here with how much can be claimed)

  5. Please note, that if a claim is not fulfilled, you won’t be allowed to claim anything in the following round (may change depending on the number of participants)

Please use the following format when claiming:

Username: (the one you will post the icons under)
Claim: (Category – Title – Claim; e.g. TV Show – Doctor Who – 10th Doctor)
Country:

Claims

Claim (Category (- Fandom) - Claim) Participant Country
TV - Sanctuary - Season 1 [info]immortalje Germany
Movie - Alice in Wonderland (2010) - Alice Kingsley and Hatter [info]dani_meows USA
TV - Doctor Who - New Who [info]blue_siofra USA
TV - Torchwood - Season 2 [info]anotheryear USA

If there are any questions left, feel free to ask.

(Sorry for being so absent... I was so busy with studying, that I forgot until today... and even than I thought I had made the post in which I promissed sign ups at the beginning of this week only to realise that it had been the week before even.
Either way, I'll check the voting tomorrow and will post tie breakers when necessary - which it currently looks like)
mood: blah blah

:-D I was torn between doing Alice in Wonderland, Heroes or Will from Sanctuary. The only thing I knew I didn't want to do was Doctor Who because I just finished making 100 icons in less than a week. ^_^

I was wondering if I should pick a character, episode or the entire show... in the end I compromised to a season so I can cover all characters :D

I haven't done Doctor Who in a while, but I'm currently all for getting my hands on new fandoms vs. the old "boring" ones I have don plenty for :D (I should probably see if I can find some lovely icons though... or did I already save some and just need to upload them? -- I think I need to rework my icons either way ;D )

I did consider doing a resource post where everybody can share their favourite sources for screencaps/pics.

I do 95% of my own capping, and I would get around to my movies except I like to cap and put on a disc, and I'm out of discs at the moment so...

Is there a good tutorial on how to cap? I wouldn't mind making my own caps for some things if I knew how and if I have what I need to do it.

I use the KM Player (an older version, I think). I used this tutorial on how to do the auto capture. You might have to be a member to see the link (Sorry!) but there's a link to download the program and everything there. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I put it on auto cap, grab a timer and walk away until the timer goes off.

I tend to do it with an autocaps function as well, but I use VLC Player. Doesn't always do it the way I want it to, but I've found my way.

The only real problem is that it seems to change slightly with every new version they get out. A question in that regard was asked here. The post also links to the original tutorial that brought it up.

I've never tried KMPlayer, but occasionally I've considered it. So you'd have to see which one you prefer :)

I did that for a long time, but with a lack of time to make screencaps I had to find other sources.

I tend to put my screencaps on my external harddrives... but I hardly have them turned on currently since I'm too busy with university anyway...

When it seems like every time you find a new cap source, Especially for Doctor Who, the BBC finds them too and they go *poof*

The one I use (http://disparue.org/gallery/) has been holding steady so far. It contains a whole lot of fandoms. I think I originally found it while looking for Star Wars screencaps or so.

I never quite noticed that happening... but maybe because I already did most of my caps myself by then. Until I ended up too busy.
