The middle one are the two rules my mother had when I was a kid and I just had to use it :D (Most of the time, she was right so the rules are even fitting... and the other times she was right because she was the parent and had the final say about things like bedtime ;D)
The most I got was a soft slap to the bottom. It wasn't strong enough to hurt, but you knew that you've reached the limit. (At least as far as my memory serves me)
My Mom (not considered as my parents when I write it, since I more visited) was the same way... soft smack to say hey quit it... Well save for the time I was about 3 or so and ran across a major road (in a really busy city) when my mom stopped for gas and nearly got hit by a semi truck as I ran across four lanes.... that time I got a really hard smack. Might have deserved that one though... :-P
