Log: Susan & Open
Who: Susan Bones & Open
When: Thursday, July 9; afternoon
Where: In town, near Spices and Flour
What: Wizarding Kissing Day
The end of the day wasn't coming soon enough for Susan. The days had felt long lately, and even though she hadn't been assigned to the case, there was a lot of buzz going around about the "Bashing Bandit" or so that was the nickname was traveling around the office. The case was local, and the idea that some weird person - or not a person, hard to tell yet - was going around attacking people or otherwise, was freaky. She wasn't scared to walk home, but she may have left a little early to make sure she would get home while it was still daylight.
Or mostly daylight. The weird clouds were still scarlet for the second day in a row. Passing under them earlier that morning had been... intense to say the least, and while the feeling wasn't nearly as strong as it had been initially, there was still that lingering effect of intensity setting in as she walked. Passion and intensity were feelings Susan usually didn't feel too comfortable expressing except in her own, scrambled brain, so she kept her eyes forward and down to avoid intense eye contact. Just in case.
Thankfully, even though the the walk home was several blocks, it was still a straight shot and an enjoyable along the waterfront. Plus, she needed to stop by Spices and Flour on the way to pick up a few items for the remainder of the week, and it was on her way home.
Nearing the shop and a busier part of the street, Susan noticed a few people up ahead kissing one another. Nothing over the top or provocative, but still, a lot more than normal. She frowned and was unsure if this was related to the scarlet clouds or if it had to do with something else entirely. Up ahead, she noticed a sign posted on the edge of the sidewalk, so she slowed down to read what it said.
"Wizarding Kissing Day?" She spoke aloud to herself. "That's a thing?" There was nothing wrong with celebrating a kiss with a loved one, of course, but Susan didn't believe there needed to be a specialized day for it.
"They've got a day for everything," she half mumbled and attempted to continue walking, but an unseen force stopped her. It was as if her feet were firmly fused to the sidewalk, and she wasn't able to move.
"What in Helga Hufflepuff's name is going on?!" Bandits, clouds, and now this? Couldn't a girl just make it home??
