She could still remember when she found out that he was gone. Sabrina felt lost, alone, and like her auntie Hilda was right about her being destined to be alone forever. Regulus had been like a breath of fresh air into her life at the Hotel, and not just because he was a fellow magic user and around her age. From the moment they first met face to face, Sabrina felt an instant connection to him, one that she hadn't felt with anyone in a long while. And sure, she had made friends at the Hotel, even developed a few silly crushes, but it was different with Regulus. He seemed to get her sense of humor, listened when she spoke, and most of all gave no indication that he thought she was bonkers. They had talked about things like their respective lives growing up, the expectations put upon them, and even the future. Sabrina was the happiest she had been in ages. She was absolutely gutted when he left. To say she didn't handle it well was sugarcoating things. If it wasn't for Stephen, Erwin, Levi, and Theo checking up on her, Sabrina was well on the way to doing something stupid. And then the other Regulus arrived, and old aches bloomed into fresh wounds. Especially when it became apparent that he didn't remember her or what they had together. She reacted in a way that she wasn't proud of, but having Stephen console her by letting her know he understood helped a lot. Then, that Regulus left, and the one she recognized came back. Unsure of what he did or didn't recall from his previous time here, Sabrina felt it was best not to probe or push him. She could be patient, and wait for him to be ready and willing to talk to her. Now that the day was here, Sabrina was ridiculously nervous. Having a room to herself for the time being, she offered to host their chat, since privacy was a must. She cleaned up her room and set out some snacks, and was now waiting for Regulus to knock on her door. |
