Kingdoms, fighting over lands. It sounded like something out of a high fantasy novel. Which, from Conrad's perspective, sounded pretty wild. Then again, his own version of 'earth' might have sounded equally odd to someone like Ciri. Conrad didn't particularly want to get into the subject of skyscraper-sized lizards and moths the size of airplanes. But where he was from, those things were very much real.
He leaned back, resting his elbow on the step behind him. "I was born in London, which isn't too far away from here.. Well, that is, if we are where the brochure claims we are. I haven't been back in several years, though. I've been traveling a lot, too. Not to others worlds, as you have. Just other countries." Countries that may or may not have existed beyond that invisible border surrounding the island. It was something Conrad was awfully curious about, but there was no real way of knowing where they truly were, was there?
"Do you normally come down here at night for a swim? I usually come in the mornings, but I think it might just be a little more peaceful at night."
