But none of that mattered because Joe was there. Not in his arms, but that would change soon enough. As soon as he knew Joe was in the building he was already searching the faces around him for the one he knew better than he knew anything else in the world. Once he established where the man was there was no power in the verse that could keep them apart. Clearly, since Joe was brought to him. In the hours since his arrival, he had wondered how it had happened that he was there alone. He had always assumed that when their time finally did come, it would come for the both of them. Together. The way it had been for centuries and would keep being until the end of time itself.
Nicky moved through the ballroom and into the hallway that led to the lobby. He could see that familiar silhouette and his heartbeat quickened and he grinned. It would take an extreme amount of self-control not to sprint through the room and into the arms of his husband. Much more than the man had at the moment. He took a quick assessment of the room and noted obstacles to avoid before he began to run at the man.
The seconds it took him to close the distance felt like hours to him but the second his lips found Joe's, everything was right with the world once again. One arm wrapped securely around the man's waist while his other hand found its way into those curls he loved so much. He wondered (and not for the first time) if it were possible to kiss this man until they both died just so they could come back together to continue that kiss. He hadn't tried to actually test that theory yet because every time he thought it, he would stop when he felt himself getting dizzy. This time was no different and as soon as he felt that odd rush he broke the kiss but didn't move one millimetre away from the man. "It's about time you showed up."
