J'mon could have continued to protest, but they knew that there was no point until the troublesome board had been dealt with. And probably for some time afterward. But they did not think that Jinn needed to place it all on his shoulders. He had no way of knowing what the board would do to anyone. There had been no intention, there needed to be no guilt. But they would have that discussion later. Instead, J'mon took Eddie's hand in one of their own, and Jinn's arm in the other and started moving back towards the stairs.
"The board can be dealt with later," they said, "so long as it is out of reach until then. I will, of course, stay with Eddie as long as he likes. But you are coming with us, for a time." Jinn needed it as much as Eddie did. And J'mon didn't seem like they were particularly open to being argued with. "If you feel it necessary, I can put the board away until later today, perhaps tomorrow. But it is done now and we need not rush it further."
Not that J'mon was inclined to rush much of anything. But they also had an innate sense of people and could tell that Jinn did not necessarily want to be far from Eddie. Nor did J'mon want to be far from either of them in turn. "Come now, darlings," they said. "Eddie needs sleep. And I am singularly equipped to assist with that."
