Oh to be one of the lucky few who had not caught the attention of this thing or entity, whatever it was. But the three of them, in their own ways, had all been affected. And it was not the only thing that linked them together. Not everyone had that in common but enough of them did to make it suspicious. And it was an avenue J'mon was hardly afraid to press further down if need be. For now, though, Eddie's comfort seemed paramount. Dragons didn't have typical human empathy, but the metallics had been gifted with something like it. Their platinum god had been kind - or, perhaps, cruel - in that regard. And J'mon felt more than just a pang of sympathy for Eddie.
They let themselves into the room and took a brief glance at the fading symbols on the wall. The furniture. The hints of Eddie's personality dashed about. Then they gently sat down on the edge of the empty bed. "No, I am afraid I did not hear any whispering," they said, giving Jinn a sympathetic glance as well and noticing for the first time his uncovered eyes. "I see we're not relying on pretenses here, though." They waved a hand next to their face and their familiar deep brown eyes shifted to the black sclera and molted metal that Jinn would have been more familiar with as well. They didn't expose that to many of the humans here. Or the monster hunters. It was a significant tell to anyone who knew. But in present company they were safe.
"So," J'mon hummed, crossing their legs and folding their hands in their lap again. "Missing time, strange scents, esoteric symbols, and... now whispers. I am familiar with all these effects in some way or another - aside from the symbols, which could have any number of explanations. And the rest, as well. Compulsive singing, compulsive truth-telling, talking trees, animals behaving oddly. I have encountered all of it at some point or another. And the magic is easy enough to break. But we are all at a point now where breaking it is not the objective. Rooting it out is. And that... is difficult." They paused to straighten a pleat in the silk wrapped around them and then looked up, directly at Eddie. "But not impossible. If you allow it."
