If there was one thing that hadn't really changed about Vanya, despite all of the recent revelations and events in her life, it was that she tended to take things in stride. That was probably due more to the emotion-numbing medication she'd been on her entire life than anything else, but the fact was: it had been built into her personality and overall she had a tendency to not really react too strongly to new information. At least not here. Still, everything was weighing on her and Vanya was at the point that now, without that medication, she missed having someone to confide in who wasn't a member of her family. From the time Five had disappeared and Ben had died up until she'd destroyed the moon, Vanya hadn't really relied on anyone else in her family, and it was hard to open up to them even now, even when it was Five who just wanted to pick their relationship back up, or Allison who wanted to be an actual sister now. Frankly, she was feeling just a little bit smothered by her family (probably because she'd gone from the extreme of not being around any of them to now having all of them around and even sharing a room with her brother) that it was nice to talk to someone who wasn't connected. Still, it seemed that her conversations with Ava, as few as they'd been, seemed to often circle back around to the general fuckery of the Hargreeves family that it wasn't fair to keep telling her 'it's complicated'. Sure, Allison had said that they should all avoid talking to others about what they could do, but Vanya really needed an outlet of some kind, and a person was safer than music at the moment. So right now, she sat at a table in the kitchen, watching as steam rose from a cup in front of her as her tea steeped. Across from her sat an empty cup, but there was a kettle of hot water on the stove waiting for Ava to show up, and Vanya was ready to fill that cup when she got there so the two could talk. |
