Chyara looked up at the entrance and smiled. "Was getting hungry," she admitted and put the book away to come help. Zinda had found her out and insisted on befriending the alien for many reasons, two being 'there weren't many other gals on the base' and 'Jumping beans, is that professor just pumping your brains?' The woman had been horrified at how little exposure Chyara had had of Earth, and the clothing Chyara wore (base camp fatigues with a big hole in the back, or her armor) and insisted on filling in the holes about 'the important things to know that weren't in books'. Chyara liked the camaraderie and appreciated another angle to her exile.
"Tempura?" she repeated and picked up a fried carrot, sniffing the shell.
