Martin had made a mistake, one that he made time and time again, of transforming from marten to human without giving due warning. This, he assumed, was why Fabian was shocked out of his wits.
He gasped and exclaimed “Fabs!” He grabbed on to Fabian, stopping his fall and simultaneously pulling him against his chest in an impromptu bear hug. This kept him more or less upright. As soon as he was sure he had him Martin started laughing. Still holding on but loosening his grip he said, “I didn’t mean to startle you, I thought you knew I was about to transform!” He kept laughing, though not as hard.
His voice had dropped a full octave while he was away, and his laugh carried a hint of gravel. His chest too changed, it wasn’t exactly flat, but there was a significant difference between his softly sculpted torso and the small bound breasts of the past. He knew his journal entry hadn’t been very informative, but he still didn’t expect to evoke this level of surprise.
