"No, that's not what I'm saying. I'm only speaking about my relationship, I can't speak to yours," Ax assured Fabian seriously.
"With Theo, he doesn't really have any of his own friends, and he needs me. When Longcat came along it was like Theo had something that needed him, and Theo did a great job of taking care of him. And then when Longcat turned out to be Martin, their relationship had a new depth to it which doesn't depend on Martin being human." Ax couldn't tell if he was helping anything at all, or if he was even making any sense. "Theo has a lot of body trauma, that he can be affectionate with someone with whom he is not in a sexual relationship is a huge step. It makes me really happy because it feels like such significant growth."
Of course, Ax was just speaking about his own relationship, but that didn't mean there weren't some compelling parallels.
