WHO: Katharina and Walden
WHAT: finding out they're pregnant again
WHERE: their flat
WHEN: yesterday, June 6th
WARNINGS: no idea
When her period had first failed to materialise, Katharina actually didn't notice. She had never been particularly organised, and keeping track of her monthly cycles was no exception. It had been different when they were trying for Ben: she had been obsessively counting the days when she was more fertile and taking pregnancy tests every time they had sex. This time, they hadn't been attempting to get pregnant. Walden had made it quite clear he did not think they were ready for another baby yet. Katharina was more than ready - she would have been happy with sextuplets - but she would wait, albeit a little grudgingly. As it turned out, she didn't need to. Apparently her body had decided she was ready and completely ignored the contraceptive potion she was taking. It happened - she knew it happened - but it was such a low chance that it had never really occurred to her it might happen to her.
Two weeks past the day she should have started her period, it occurred to Katharina she hadn't had one in a while. A little thought brought her back to the week after Benjamin's birthday. She had to have had one since then, though, surely? She couldn't recall it, though. At that point, she decided that maybe she should take a pregnancy test. She waited until Walden was at work because she thought she might need time to process whatever the test told her, but when the results came through, she wished she hadn't. Waiting for him was agony. She had a horrible feeling he wasn't going to be happy about the news, and although she was excited, that also worried her. She spent most of the afternoon walking up and down the living room with Ben in her arms, singing to him in a nervous high voice.
Then came the tell-tale pop of Walden apparating home. She put Benjamin down hurriedly - probably the first time she had done so of her own volition since he had been born - and went to greet him at the door.
"How was your day?" she asked, unnaturally cheerfully.
