Sheepishly, Severus sat just after the women did while ignoring Lucius' offer of a drink. He didn't want a drink, he didn't even want the water he had already been served. He just wanted to be able to make an easy exit, but Lucius looked too pleased with himself to allow that to happen.
Sitting back stiffly in his chair, Severus crossed his legs, and looked down first at his hands folded in his lap, but his gaze soon shifted to the contrasting children playing on the floor. Severus was struck how beautiful they were next to each other, he was also struck by the thought itself. The attractiveness of children was not something of which he normally took notice. But it was difficult not to notice, Draco's pale, nearly translucent skin and cotton white hair, against the creamy mahogany and soft jet of Blaise. After a moment, he looked up and tuned into the conversation fur just a moment, found it uninteresting and having nothing to contribute, he went back to watching the children play with wooden blocks with etched runes, and magical animals cut into the sides. Severus was clearly no where he wanted to be when two babies playing on the floor was the most interesting thing happening around him.
