Cloudy.
Who: Erik and Sasha
When: afternoon
Where: West District
Warnings: language? IDK. Will update if needed!

Everyone in town was talking about the Otherworld virtual reality thing, but Erik was completely uninterested. At least for the moment; if his team wanted to go together, he probably wouldn't have said no. But he wasn't curious enough about it to go by himself. He had a day off today, and he'd spent it running until he almost couldn't feel his extremities. At least the weather had been cooperative. Post-rain, it was cool and cloudy and damp.

The coolness hadn't stopped him from perspiring. He'd been running for a couple of hours, and he actually looked as if he'd been rained on. His hair, short though it was, and clothes were soaked through, and his muscles felt like springs that were about to snap. It was Erik's way to push himself until he couldn't go anymore. Not especially healthy from any standpoint, but there was nobody in close enough proximity to him on a daily basis to know the kinds of things he did. Everything he pushed down inside himself had to come out some way, and he supposed that was it. Not that he consciously thought about it all that much.

There was a bench outside the drugstore, and he'd seated himself on one end of it, his mostly empty water bottle held loosely in one hand. People passed by, and a few looked askance at him, but he didn't make any effort to engage anyone. He was going to sit until he felt capable of getting on the train to go home. Seemed simple enough.

"Mmm," Erik said noncommittally. He didn't have that many options for not being by himself. His sour face turned most women he might meet off, and he wasn't much for charming conversation most of the time. Very occasionally he visited one of the brothels, but that felt strange and awkward to him, and he always got through it with as little eye contact as possible. Just a hole to fuck, and it was both satisfying and not in a way he couldn't have put into words.

"What're you doing out, if it's so crappy?" he asked, his expression mildly challenging.

"Crappy errands on a crappy day," she responded, lifting her brown paper bag that she had carried out from the drug store. "Necessities, you know? Otherwise I would have stayed home and entertained myself. Then again, if I had done that, I wouldn't be sitting here, enjoying your company." Sasha set the bag back down beside her and flashed him a quick grin. "We should do something. Grab a drink. Treat yourself after a hard workout."

Erik had to smile, at least faintly, at what she said. Very few people could say they enjoyed his company. Teddy and the rest of his team sometimes, maybe. They knew how he was and didn't mind it. His second wife, occasionally... the one who'd died. He didn't like to think about that much, so he quickly put it out of his mind.

A drink was probably the last thing he needed after all that running on an empty stomach, but what the hell? He found that he didn't necessarily want to part company with her right away, nameless mystery woman that she was. "What's close?" he asked, not all that oriented to what was where in this part of town.

"Oh, hell if I know. But there's bound to be a place nearby, right?" Sasha stood and grabbed her bag from the bench, waiting for Erik to join her. "We'll go that way." She pointed left, since there seemed to be plenty of shops and eateries in that general direction. It was an unexpected turn of events, sure, but Sasha didn't mind it. She liked the unpredictable to an extent, and maybe hanging out - if one could call it that - with a soldier was a bad idea, but Sasha was bored. Plus, Erik was fun to poke at, and she wanted to get under his skin a little more.

Erik got up with a slight hitch of breath; there was most likely a severe leg cramp in his future. His muscles felt overly stretched and there were warning twinges of pain from his left calf. Hell, maybe he could walk it off. Moving again felt like a step in the right direction.

"You always drink this early in the day?" he asked idly.

Sasha started off down the street, waiting until she knew Erik was with her before she answered him. "Yes," she said with a brief smile. "Is that a problem?" Being a bartender, Sasha met a lot of people who liked to drink early. Some like to drink a lot, regardless of the time of day. And since she didn't have anywhere to be for awhile, no harm, no foul.

"Nah, no problems," Erik said. That was more apt than it usually was. Here he was, doing something different with someone who intrigued him. Maybe he needed more of this kind of thing in his life. Maybe he'd actually learn her name this time. That was, if she didn't keel over from his body odor after all that running.
