Who: Teddy/Drake, Natasha, Alex
What: THE BIRDS!
Where: Natasha's apartment/surrounding area
When: morning

Teddy wasn't entirely certain what had woken him up, his nose buried in the unfamiliar pillow, his hip and shoulder pressing into something hard and unforgiving. When his eyes opened, all he saw was darkness for a moment. Not his room, that much he knew for certain. After a few seconds of listening, his brain recognizing the sound of a second person's gentle breathing. His memory seemed to reassert itself then, recalling everything that had happened the night before. Natasha's place. Natasha's room. Natasha sleeping on the bed behind him. He sat up partway, his body stiff and aching in protest, though he remained quiet. His hand drifted near where his head had been, searching for the comm device he knew was here. When his fingers found it, they navigated to the button at the top, sheltering the device with the blanket he'd been using so as not to allow the light to travel too far. The last thing he wanted was to wake up his lovely host.

Seven in the morning. Seventy-five percent charge on his comm. No new military notifications.

A quick glance around the room, searching for a digital clock or any other indication that the power had come back on, came up negative. Carefully and quietly he moved, sliding up onto his feet and gently stepping toward the door. There was a notable change of temperature as he slid it open, careful not to let too much light in, or heat out as he squeezed through. He lingered, just for a second, glancing at the bed to make sure he hadn't woken her up, then quietly closed the door behind him. The apartment was cold, though not quite as bad as he might have feared. He wished he'd grabbed his longer shirt, or his socks at least, but didn't want to chance a return trip that might cause her to stir. The sounds of the weather had dissipated, and the windows seemed perfectly intact. Even from the distance he could see that the sky outside was slowly starting to lighten. Maybe the storm was actually over.

He ducked into the bathroom, testing the faucet really quick to make sure that the water was running. No frozen pipes, which was good, but no hot water. The comm device was left on the sink with the screen aimed up, illuminating the whole room. He should have grabbed one of the flashlights, but there was nothing to do about it now. He used the restroom, washed his hands, and took advantage of the bottle of mouth wash there. He drifted into the main room afterward, pulling the table away from the window and setting it back up. After, he moved to pull back one of the curtains a little, not wanting to disturb the insulation they provided too much. The streets were covered in a thick layer of white, even visible in the near-darkness outside. There were a few people outside attempting to clear walkways, or assess whatever damage had accumulated with their buildings or the vehicles below, but it looked like no one had power yet.

Letting the curtain drift close again, he moved to sit on the couch, checking the comms for any other announcements. No trams yet, but workers were being acquired to clear the streets. Progress. Good.

Dark and quiet. Natasha watched Drake's tail disappear from view. She almost felt bad for him, in a strange sort of way, having that kind of temporary existence. But Natasha couldn't pretend to understand the ins and outs of the whole thing. She didn't know if she ever would.

Being left alone with Alex wasn't terribly uncomfortable, but Natasha wasn't sure what to say. The woman was Teddy's best friend, and Natasha certainly wanted to get to know her better. But there was still... something about it that Natasha feeling a bit uncertain. It was just that age old question, could men and women truly be friends? It wasn't something to think about now, but seeing Alex with Teddy and Drake made it evident just how important the woman was to both of them.

She parted her lips to say something when she heard Teddy's voice from the bathroom. Turning to Alex, Natasha hesitated and then spoke. "Maybe you should take him his clothes. He probably wouldn't be comfortable with me walking in there."

Alex wasn't that uncomfortable herself. She wasn't perfectly comfortable either, of course, but then as an introvert being put in a situation where she wasn't yet at a position to be comfortably silent with the other person that was bound to happen. If she had known what Natasha was thinking about she would have rushed to put her mind to ease, but alas.

Still leaning against the counter, Alex smiled at Natasha again, a hint of exhaustion in the sigh she let out after. Then, she yawned. "Oh, sorry. I'm tired as all hell too."

Hearing Teddy's voice call out, Alex smiled in the voice's direction. Natasha seemed about to say something, so she turned to face her again. "I think he's probably going to want to clean himself up first, but I'll get out there and let him know what's been going on. He might be a little confused." She started towards the hall, then turned. "Come on."

Making her way to the bathroom door, Alex leaned against the wall without looking in. "Teddy? It's me. So previously on You, you were at Natasha's, Furies attacked Haven and you brought out the lil' dragon. I was home and everything was a mess so you told Natasha to get me on the comm. I took a little while getting here, but Natasha helped me out with Drake. He fought a bunch of birds, I shot down a bunch of birds, the others moved on - there's military all over the city though so I'm sure they got shot down too - and all civilians in the area are safe. And then Drake had strawberries. And I'm exhausted, and we probably both need a shower. And that's 'bout it!"

Teddy saw shadows of movement in the doorway, frowning a little when he heard Alex's voice. What was she doing here? Had he called her? He listened as she relayed what was happening, pulling himself out of the tub with the grunt, and moving toward the light in the bathroom. It was painful at first, his eyes blinking repeatedly. Furies. Furies in the city? He'd been outside...there was a kid...

"Did I call you?" He asked as he moved for the sink, taken aback a little by the state of himself. Long, red scratched dotted his forehead and one cheek on the right side of his face. Bleeding, but not deep. He was filthy, streaked with red and brown stains that barely moved when he rubbed at them with his hand.

"I ate something, but it doesn't taste like strawberries," he sighed, pausing for a second before calling out again. "Is Natasha okay?"

There was relief that Alex was going to take care of it, because Natasha didn't have the first clue in how to deal with any of this. Funny that she could handle anything someone like Helena Vandermeer could throw at her, but this? This was something strangely out of her comfort zone. Why did she find herself faltering so much?

Eyes widened when Alex implied that Natasha should follow. She couldn't possibly be of any help. After a brief hesitation, Natasha followed, though she stayed back several feet as Alex spoke. Natasha only spoke up when she heard Teddy all about her. "I'm fine," she called out. "I think you....Drake...ate a fury."

"No, you told Natasha to call me before you turned." Alex repeated, patiently as she always was during the first few moments of Teddy's return after Drake had gone. "I talked her through relaying orders until I got back. You're hurt, you took a bit of a clawing there I think."

When Teddy mentioned tasting something that wasn't strawberries Alex turned to Natasha and made a face of disgust. She had tried to gloss over the whole furies taste wrong business, but Teddy's taste-buds had foiled her plans. Natasha interceded, which Alex saw as progress, and she smiled. "Natasha did great, by the way. And the fury is why he wanted strawberries so bad, I think. Furies, apparently, taste terrible."

Teddy's emotional response to hearing Natasha was a bit of a mixed bag. He was relieved she was alright, glad she was still sticking around even with the fact that it was her place, and just generally happy to hear her. Even then, he felt a little uncomfortable, uncertain, guilty for having dropped this sort of bomb on her without warning.

"Yeah....I think I kind of remember that," Teddy replied, inspecting the wounds on his face before he stepped closer to the doorway, leaning out in a strategically calculated way so as not to expose himself much to the ladies there. "Hi." He looked to Natasha, looking both appreciative and apologetic. "I...uh...sorry about all that. Would it be okay if I used the shower really quick?"

Eating a fury was probably a bad choice of words. She should have said... chewed? Tasted? Natasha wrinkled her nose lightly as Alex looked at her. Neither one of them seemed too eager to talk about that part. She stayed put, her arms folded loosely beneath her breasts. Her gaze swung back toward the bathroom door as Teddy appeared, and to her credit, she kept her eyes directly on his face. Of course, Teddy was still mostly hidden behind the door, but still.

She could see some of the scratches on his face and there was a small urge to walk over to and examine them, to see how bad they were so they could get them cleaned off and bandaged if necessary. But it was possible Teddy healed quickly, and it wasn't as if she could just barge into the bathroom at the moment.

"Of course," Natasha said. "There are some clean towels under the sink. I'm not sure there's much hot water, but take as long as you need."

After a wave and a smile, Alex took a few steps back so Teddy could more easily address Natasha. At this point she wasn't doing much there anymore, and this all felt a little awkward to her. Kind of like she was third-wheeling. Then again it wasn't her fault, it was the furies' fault for having lost all their marbles and decided Haven was a nice hunting ground.

Once Natasha gave Teddy the 'all good' for showering, Alex looked down at herself, sighing. "You know, I think maybe I'm gonna head home. I don't want to get into too much detail but I have someone else's blood on me," Face and neck, not just clothing either. "and a whole bunch of other stuff I wanna get rid of. You guys are going to be okay, right?"

"Thank you," Teddy replied more than genuinely. He just wanted to feel a little more like himself, even if it meant putting dirty clothes back on afterward. He felt gross, and worn down, and honestly just wanted to curl up and pass out somewhere quiet and warm.

He ducked his head back into the bathroom just in time to hear Alex, and once again he glanced out to look. "Actually, I'm gonna make this quick. I just don't wanna crawl back into my clothes with...whatever all this stuff is." He tried to sound light, but it mostly came out drained. "Wanna see if maybe any of the guys are in the area? We might be able to snag a ride if they aren't too busy killing stuff." He looked to Natasha, not sure if he could really imagine what she was thinking or feeling about the whole thing. "Do you need anything? I could come back later with the truck if the power doesn't come back soon. Bring food or something."

Natasha was on the verge on convincing Alex to stay. If she left, then Teddy and Natasha would be alone, and she was afraid Teddy would want to talk about Drake. She was still trying to wrap her mind around everything and she had no idea what to say. But Teddy spoke up first and she felt some relief that he wanted Alex to stay so they could leave together.

His offer had her responding with a faint smile and a soft shake of her head. "That's okay, but thank you. Mary should be home soon, and I'm sure you two are exhausted. We can talk tomorrow," she assured him.

Since apparently Teddy was not going to be sticking around, Alex shrugged and nodded in agreement. "Well all right. I've waited this long." She said with a smile, pulling her comm out of her pocket. "I'll try to raise 'em on the comm. Last I heard the things were taking a beating so we might just get lucky." By now, however, most military had probably moved on to another particularly active spot.

She turned to Natasha after the woman refused Teddy's offer, and gave another encouraging smile. "If you do need anything your roommate can't help with let us know, though." She moved away from the bathroom door and down the hall back to the kitchen. "Go on Teddster, wash behind the ears."

"Alright," Teddy nodded at Natasha, though with the Fury issue he wasn't entirely certain how soon that might actually be. He wasn't going to bring that up, wondering if that was the one comfort Natasha really had at the moment.

"Thanks, mom," he replied to Alex as he headed back into the bathroom, gently closing the door behind him. Other people's showers were always a bit of a hassle, needing to duck and angle himself and coordinate his movements to get under the flow of water. He made it quick, fairly certain he could do a more respectable, and comfortable, job of it at his own place. Right now he just wanted to get all of the extra muck off him, and feel a little more like a human being.

"Thanks," Natasha murmured to Alex, giving her a small smile as she watched the woman walk off back toward the kitchen. Teddy had slipped back into the bathroom, so Natasha stood in the hallway for a moment, unsure as to what way to go. If she disappeared into her bedroom, that would be rude. Still, the kitchen with Alex meant small talk. She had a fierce debate with herself before finally following Alex back to the kitchen.

There wasn't anything for her to clean or put away to distract her this time. Natasha hovered near the kitchen counter. "Will he be okay?" she asked finally, nodding back toward the sound of the shower. "I mean, will he heal quickly?"

The 'mom' comment made Alex roll her eyes dramatically, sadly away from Teddy's field of vision at this point. She smiled at Natasha, nodding as if to say she could count on them - on her - without explicitly saying so. She leaned against the counter again, giving yet another sigh of tiredness.

At Natasha's question, Alex grimaced. "He heals normally, sadly. When he transforms while damaged he heals like any human being." She looked 'bummed out', which she was. It would be nice and a lot less concerning if Teddy also had enhanced healing of some sort, but alas. Her comm sounded off a message, and Alex smiled apologetically at Natasha before reading and replying. Transportation might be secured for them both after all. If Teddy hurried up. However, Alex didn't want to go knocking on the door to rush him; he'd had one hell of a day already and that shower probably felt like the best thing ever at the moment.

"So," She said, looking up from her comm only briefly. "I've got Thursday off this week. Every other day I'm working from five to two in the morning, so that might be awkward for us. I might be doing clean-ups for a few days too, maybe. Not a lot of sleep to be had, I think..." She put the comm back and smiled. "You've got my contact, see if you can swing it then let me know."

It turned out knocking wasn't necessary. Only a few moments after the shower started it turned off again, and Teddy was drying himself off. A quick, albeit cold and dark rinse was all he wanted, just enough to get most of the gunk off so he could get home and get properly cleaned. He felt weird about everything right now, what he remembered, what he didn't, where he was... Getting back to someting familiar, something secure and that was his sounded damn good. It wasn't a lack of appreciation for everything Natasha had done, nor did he not want to see her, but home was home.

He realized he could have used a little more drying as he dressed, but he managed, the cloth clinging to his form even as he managed to tug it over himself. He stepped out of the bathroom a little colder, a lot damper, but happier. "You know," he called with a sigh. "I really hope the power is back by the time we get home. Cold showers in winter are not cozy." He stepped toward the pair, fishing into his pants pocket for his hairties, then went about fastening the blonde mop back into its familiar bunny tail. "Did we get a ride?"

"I'll check my schedule and let you know," Natasha promised. It sounded like their schedules might clash, but she would do what she could to at least grab a half an hour with Alex. Teddy emerged before she could say much more. She stayed back, letting Teddy and Alex work out the details of how they were getting home. It was just a little bit strange to hear him talk to Alex so comfortably about home. ... by the time we get home. Teddy had offered to do whatever was necessary to make Natasha feel comfortable there, once she moved in, but she was wondering if would take more than new furniture.

Not really sure what to do, Natasha walked out of the kitchen to glance out the window. There were people below, some checking out the dead Furies, some throwing snowballs, as if nothing had happened. What a strange morning. She was actually looking forward to being alone for awhile so she could wrap her brain around everything.

Alex nodded at Natasha, smiling, as Teddy made his way down to them. Somehow he oozed cleanliness even in his clothes from before. The dampness probably helped. Either way, Alex sighed when he approached, the need for her own shower becoming stronger and stronger. She chuckled lightly. "I'll bet. Though at this point a cold shower sounds better than no shower at all, so I'll take it!"

Checking her phone again, Alex smiled. "Four minutes out. They're doing a pick up round trip, they can drop us off." She looked at Natasha, looking out the window. "How's it looking down there?"

"You know," he started, offering a slight grin. "You say that..." The rest didn't really need to be said. He moved toward the door to get his shoes, his eyes falling on Natasha at the window. Quiet. Probably tired, probaby overwhelmed. He wanted to say something but wasn't sure where to start.

"Excellent," he replied to the time frame, and his gaze turned toward Natasha again. He nearly spoke, but Alex thankfully seemed to pick up on his slack. "Hopefully less bird-y," he chimed in. He moved to start getting his shoes on, his toes feeling like ice cubes in his socks. The shoes would help, he hopes. If he was really lucky, the guys picking them up would be blasting the heat.

Natasha tore her gaze away from the window so she could look over at them. "Definitely less bird-y, yes. It looks less crowded than before, so hopefully people have realized they should stay inside." She nearly asked if they would be all right leaving, but Natasha realized quickly that they were more than capable of taking care of themselves.

She moved away from the window then, offering a small smile. "Be careful out there. I can't imagine those were the only Furies in Haven."

"I know, I know..." Alex chuckled, lowering her head. It was cold as veritable balls outside, the heating was probably not working either when they got home, and a cold shower in those circumstances would probably stop her heart for a few seconds at least. Then again, she was prepared for it now, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Natasha relayed excellent news, which garnered another tired smile out of Alex. "Ah, good." At Natasha's sage advice, Alex nodded, looking to Teddy then back at her. "We will be. Hopefully the way back is mostly cleared, there were military all along it when I came this way. If not, well. It turns out I didn't have to spend all my ammo! But really, I just want to go home." She finished, a sigh that deflated her and said she would take no pleasure or enjoyment from having to stop on account of any more giant murder-birds.

"I'm not transforming again," Teddy eyed Alex, laughing a little to himself. "If we run into more, they're all yours." Unless someone handed him a gun. Honestly, he just wanted an uneventul ride home.

His shoes on and tied, he stood once more, taking a few steps forward to stand beside Alex, his gaze on Natasha. "I know it probably goes without saying, but don't go out anywhere unless you have to. If you need anything just call or message. I've got the truck, and I don't mind making a trip back over if turns out you need backup for something. I won't even charge." He offered a smile, hoping that at least a good goodbye would help take the edge off what had likely been a disaster of a date.

Natasha wasn't sure she would have called the date a disaster. A little unexpected, everything that had happened, but Natasha had enjoyed herself. Up until this morning, anyway. She gave Teddy a small, grateful smile. "I definitely have plans to stay in today. But if I need anything, I'll let you know. I appreciate the help." Tomorrow would no doubt be an incredibly busy day, so Natasha had a feeling she ought to just stay in and try to regroup before the week started.

Raising her hands, Alex nodded solemnly. "You're not transforming again." She repeated. But maybe she hoped there was another gun around just in case. And most of all, Alex hoped she never had to see one of those things alive again.

She listened to Teddy and Natasha speak, comm in hand waiting for the message to get going. "Again Natasha, thank you so much for all your help, and even if we can't make our schedules match, if you need me for anything just send a message on my comm." The comm chimed with a new message as she finished her sentence. "We're up." She told Teddy, firing off a quick reply.

Heading for the front door, Alex smiled at Natasha again. "Get some rest, stay safe."

Teddy opened his mouth to speak again when the chime came, and he almost instinctively knew what the meant. He looked back to Natasha even as he backed up to grab his coat and slide it on. "Well, Ms. Reed. It was a pleasure, as always." He opened the door for Alex, though his gaze didn't stray very far. "Sorry again." He couldn't remember how many times he'd said it over the course of the day, but it never quite felt like enough considering all that had happened. "Hopefully the rest of your day's uneventful."

Hopefully, his day would be as well.

"Don't apologize," Natasha said quickly, walking over to see them out as she should. "It's really fine, and not your fault." He had done what he was trained to do, and Natasha couldn't fault him for that. "We'll talk soon," she promised. Natasha didn't want Teddy to leave thinking she was upset. Until the worst of it, she felt like they had had a pretty decent evening together. "Be safe."
