Somebody's gonna get their head kicked in tonight
Who: Juno and Ash (and assorted NPCs when needed)
Where: The slums
What: Fight night!
When: Night time
Tensions were running high in the slums tonight. With everything that had happened recently this was not surprising, especially with this morning's execution of the terrorist who had killed over a hundred people - and had readily admitted to it before death. By all accounts, he'd gone out smiling, the sick bastard. What remained unknown was whether the tension was due to pure anger or a (still angry) sense of celebration. There was a fight tonight all the same, thus the thirst for violence (and cash, always) hadn't really been curbed by what most called justice. But was it ever? Everyone down here had a reason to be angry at any given time; at the council, at their odds, at each other.
Though there had been people from the slums at the hospital when the explosion had occurred no amount of bullets carved into the man responsible would bring them back, so it felt useless. Juno was still mostly confused at how a man who had sounded clear-minded and raised some very good points (the arranged marriage thing came to mind at the moment for obvious reasons) had also thought blowing up a whole hospital wing with over a hundred people inside was a good way to spread his message. As a whole, however, she felt mostly numb.
Since the council saw fit to kill him, she was naturally inclined to disagree - but neither did she think he deserved anything less than to pay for every life he'd taken. And with the marriage thing settled, though this all felt like waiting for her own firing squad, Juno felt less anxious than before. Not by much, but at least she was making a temporary attempt at the whole 'out of sight, out of mind' thing. She hadn't seen or talked to anyone familiar in over a day, and after a flimsy dinner had actually thought to check out the fight. A little 'me time', Juno Vega style. She had even placed a bet, for the first time in a long while. She had almost been enjoying herself a little when this burly, mean looking dude violently pushed her out of the way with a "Move bitch".
Juno might have swallowed it if he hadn't caught her unawares and caused her to trip, bump violently into a group of three people, gone own and taken one of them wither her. After staring all three down and explaining she'd been pushed Juno stood, pulling the woman up, and called out to the guy, "Hey, watch where you're going, bitch."
The burly, mean looking dude had turned around to look all the way down to where Juno stood. He took a step, then another, trying very hard to look menacing, which amused Juno. Finally, he stood too close for comfort. "Why, you gonna cry on me or something?"
Juno might have let him get away with this, punch a wall to calm herself down then come back. However, he'd had to go and push her again, one palm smacking against her collarbone. It hurt, for one, she could practically feel the bruise forming there already. For another, he'd caused her to stumble back again and almost step on the poor woman she'd just pulled up off the floor because of this shitstain. And finally, this wasn't the kind of thing Juno had it in herself to let slide. Without a word, Juno closed her hand into a fist, pulled her arm back, and then sprung it forward, angling upwards. It clashed with his chin only once, but the man's entire head snapped to the side. Juno could practically feel the whiplash. The shock in his eyes though, that was priceless. Shock giving way to anger, Juno only had time to barely block the incoming counter-punch with her hand. And from there, they were off. At a distance Juno could hear someone wondering why no one had bets on this one too.
