You've got a funny way of showing it, right now.
But I'm the one used to sleeping through explosions and tremors, just because they've been there all my life. I only saw the sun for the first time when I was ten. And my cousins and me, we were ... stupid. When we were tracked down by Runners, Erol made sure I got back safe, but they captured him. At sixteen, I was in the middle of massacre. My mom died, and they took me, my dad and my sister. They executed my dad in front of me a while later, just to see what kind of reaction it would give them?
And it wasn't satisfactory, so they took me into this examination room, stripped me bare and put me under. So they said. You see, that anesthesia they like to use? It only paralyzes you. You feel everything and it keeps you wide awake, but you can't even scream.
I've been told that I escaped fourteen years later, after they managed to brainwash me into being one of them, but I didn't do good enough of a job, so I was thrown back into rehab and it was more of the same old. And I had to leave behind someone I cared a lot about. He might be gone too and I'm watching out for his sisters and they don't even know I shared a cell with him.
And when I finally got home? Everything had changed. My cousin's back and he's been through the mill and he's the commander, but he's dying and he's got me helping him with everything. And then a few weeks ago, they bombed the place and I wasn't fast enough with the evacuation. I was a fraction of a second too late and I had to close down six levels to contain the blast and a lot of people got killed and I don't even know their names, because nobody can tell me for certain who was in there. And we couldn't shut down the comms, so we had to listen to them die. Pretty sure I heard kids and that's just ... That's on me.
