Richard,

I would like to make it abundantly clear that I do not regret our time together. I did thoroughly enjoy every moment we had. What I do regret is all the trouble it's caused you. I knew of Sarah's crush before we went out together and I should have considered that before things progressed. I am very sorry that you are having to deal with the backlash of my selfish and thoughtless actions.

You are and always will be one of my best friends and I will always love you one way or another. However, given the circumstances, I think it would be best if we not spend time together for a while. At least not just the two of us. I don't want Sarah getting the wrong idea. I have promised her that our physical relationship will not continue and I'm not one to break promises. Her lack of trust in me at the moment would make her believe I was doing exactly that if you and I were to spend time alone.

I guess we're both very lucky that there were no feelings involved. That would make this much more difficult than it already is. Hopefully one day everything will get back to normal and we can go back to the way things were.

I really am very sorry that all this has happened as a result of such a wonderful time together.
