This island is still what I am used to. I know that I need to work on adjusting, it's just super hard. I am going to have to look into doing something here. Maybe if I could get my writing mojo back. It's just not there.

You're a writer?

Yes, actually, I've just had a bit of writer's block lately.

A blank sheet of paper can be so intimidating. Own it. I always tell myself- you have written before, you will write again. You just have to find one true sentence, start with just a sentence. Don't worry about all of the blank space after it, once you have that sentence, you are golden.

Write what you know. It may seem like nothing to you, but to someone else, it will be true and real and vibrant, because you know, because you lived it, because it is alive. Don't think too much about it, jsut write that one sentence. But if you think about it consciously or worry about it you will kill it and your brain will be tired before you start.

I guess so. I write on a computer, usually. I can get the idea, though, I just need to get over the fear of sitting down and nothing coming out.

I suppose that you're right, though.

Well, blank screen, blank page, it's all the same fear. But you have to own the damned fear and use it. How ironic it is to be so afraid of writing nothing that we write nothing.

I think it is extremely ironic. I haven't felt much like writing since my wife died.

Ah, well that is understandable.

Perhaps you should write about that. Use the pain.

Maybe I should. I don't want to have to give up being a writer. It's all I know.

That is something I can certainly understand.

Give it a try, for yourself, no one else.
