Good day,

I thought it best to contact you through the network in the first instance.

I have been receiving a series of immunisations from Dr Banner, since I'm afraid that I come from a time when there was no known immunisation against many diseases that you now say are all but eradicated.

This is all very well, but in case you are not aware, my son has arrived on the island. It seems that he is here to stay. He is not yet three years of age, but he has never had an immunisation. In fact, I doubt if he has seen a doctor since the day he was born.

I have no idea what the recommendations are for children, but I believe many of the immunisations I have been receiving are normally administered in infancy. Can anyone advise?

Thank you,
Ernest Hemingway.

Hello.

I'm Dr. Cuddy. You are correct; there are a number of important vaccines that are given in infancy and early childhood.

Given that your son may never have seen a doctor, I suggest that he have a complete physical exam, followed by a meeting with you, so we can ask some simple questions to learn more about his health. We can also offer advice and answer questions you have about the vaccines or any other issue related to your son's health.

Once that's done, he can begin to receive vaccines from myself or one of the other medical staff. Some vaccines can be given in combination to reduce the number of needles we have to give him. A few vaccines will require you to bring him back for follow up doses.

I recommend you be in the room with your son for the exam and the vaccines.

I hope that helps.

Dr Cuddy,

That all sounds satisfactory. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I will be happy to bring him in for an examination. He's always kept good health, but on this island- he just seems so terribly small and human.

Well. Thank you. Just let me know when I should come by, and I'll do that.

- Ernest

Now that wasn't so hard, was it?

What on earth are you talking about? Of course it wasn't hard.

You can bring him by today for the exam and I'll check with our nurse about the vaccination schedule.

Mr. Hemingway,

Your son will need to have his immunizations brought up to date. Dr. Banner will be preparing a schedule in the very near future of who needs what and when, give me his name and I will add your son to the list of people who need the complete package.

He's not ill at the moment is he?

Thank you, Nurse. His name is Jack Hemingway.

No, not at all. Perfect health. It's just a precaution, he seems so small and vulnerable here.

Yours,
Ernest

It's no trouble Mr. Hemingway, I was happy to help. Your son has been added to the list. Knowing how much of a workaholic Dr. Banner is I expect he'll have a schedule in a matter of days.

I appreciate that many of you are from a time when medicine has advanced significantly, but I find it highly unprofessional to call someone an idiot for simply asking for some advice. I can hardly "listen to the doctor" if no doctor has ever given me anything to listen to, you understand?

Oh, just ignore him Mister Hemingway; he's just a grumpy old bastard, really...!

That is to say, that I've worked with Dr House before, and thus it is I know that he delights in calling everyone idiots!

Anyway's, Mister Hemingway, I'd simply love to meet your little boy, and of course, examine him... I double majored in premedical studies and child development at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and received my medical degree from Mount Sinai.

Yours,
Dr Autumn Wheeler, MD <3

It's quite all right, I've been known to be extremely grumpy myself.

Child development? What is that, like midwifery?

Chicago, though! Goodness. Are you from Illinois yourself? I grew up in Oak Park, just outside Chicago.

Aw! I'm Certain that's not true, sir!

[...] No, sir, Child Development has to do with -- well, the actual development of children... As in, their emotional, mental and physical development throughout the childhood and adolescent years.

Anyway's, yes, I AM from Illinois, although -- much further south than you yourself, sir. I was born in East St Louis and raised in a little village of about 900 people, called Sandoval: which I'm sure you haven't heard of...! My real home, however, is New York City!
