Usually more stabby and shooty.

Well, all right. I rather prefer hand-to-hand combat. But I do enjoy hunting with knives and guns, if that appeals.

Hell I'm up for anything, this place is so boring

Sure. Well, boxing, hunting, fishing- any of it. We can see if we can find something big to shoot. Or you can punch me. Or both, indeed. Not simultaneously, mind you.

I could so do both at once.

I have no doubt. Just don't get confused between which one you're shooting and which one you're punching.

Sorry, sir, but... a fight? Whatever for?

Why the hell not? Sport.

Ah... I see... Boys and their "Sport" Ha!

Well, sir, if you want, I DO know some jujitsu moves from my Auror -- er, copper training, that is to say -- and I could fight you, hand to hand... if Deadpool, up there, is going to just attempt to Stab you...!

Jujitsu? That's- Japanese, yes?

I don't know, I've never fought a woman before. I don't know if it would be right. Although I believe that you are as strong in spirit as any man, as courageous when given the opportunity- have you ever fought a man before?

And you were in law enforcement? That's- is that common, in your time?

Yes indeed, sir, it is Japanese, but it's just a fighting style that involves -- well, grappling, really. Holds and such as. And yes, actually, I've fought several men before...! I mean, not at once of course, but... yes, I have fought men before...!

And yes, actually, it's very common; has been for quite a while, honestly. I mean, in my time and place, well... women were as well respected as men in the field, rather, and had been for decades -- though of course, there were the occasional pig of a man who thought we couldn't do it.

Sorry sir, I've forgotten my manners: offering to fight you for sport without so much as introducing myself...! I'm Parnel Jugson, sir, and you are...?

Well, all right. It certainly sounds more like my sort of thing than knifeplay. That's impressive. I would be afraid of hurting you, but I suppose that if you are not afraid, that is really the point.

When is your time? There will always be people who doubt your abilities, based on- gender, race, size, age- anything they can possibly think of. It is their problem, if they want to waste their time worrying about what other people may or may not be able to do. You have to live your own life, decide what is important to you, and fight for it.

That's all right, I'm just as bad. Good to meet you, Miss Jugson. I'm Ernest Hemingway.

Aw, don't worry about me, sir; even if you DO hurt me, I'm a rather fast healer, rather...

And as for the time I'm from, well -- it's 1982, Anno Domini, if you can believe that - but there again, if you're already accustomed to the fact that we're living in 2013, AD now, well -- I suppose 1982 still should seem rather a throwback in time...! Hah! And -- you are so right about having to fight for what you want out of life; I mean, you really do have a gift with words.

And... aren't you a famous Muggle author of some sort, sir? It's wonderful to meet you, really, though I admit, I haven't read many of your works -- if any at all, in fact...! I'm not sure, I'm sorry. At any rate, it's wonderful to meet you, sir, as I think I already wrote, before...

Well, if you insist. No one is about to hunt me down for hurting a woman? Hmm?

You're not as much of a throwback as I am. It was 1926 AD for me, and yet I know there are some residents on the island who are even further out of their time than I am. Thank you.

I wouldn't say that I'm famous, I'm not a drug user- but yes, I am a writer. I've only published two novels. Well, a satirical novella that isn't really worth much, and one novel. Oh- no, sorry. I keep forgetting. Apparently I have published many novels, they are taught in schools in the future. Or in the present, I suppose. But it hasn't happened for me, yet. It's a lot to wrap your head around.

Well, I should HOPE no one would, considering I asked you to fight me; but if they should hunt down upon you, well, I'll just have to hex them, I suppose...

Oh sorry, sir, I didn't mean to imply that you were any kind of drug user; a Muggle is just... a non-magical person, really...! Sorry, sir. I didn't remember that not everyone knows my terminology, yet...

At any rate, well, I think that you are pretty famous by my time; of course, since I didn't attend a so-called "normal" secondary school, well -- I didn't get an opportunity to study your works, I'm afraid...

But i know just what you mean, about being "famous" ahead of your time, and I'm sorry to have put you on the spot in that way! I mean, I've been reading this childrens' book series that I apparently was featured in, somehow or other, because -- well, apparently I'm HERE because of this series: being "read from it" somehow...! Though of course, the first few books, i've found no mention of anyone in my family yet.

Yes, but you know people. Terribly stupid, sometimes.

Oh, I see. Where I'm from, muggle is a slang term for marijuana. You're a witch? Really?

No, you're quite all right. It's just something that I have to get used to, that's all. I suppose I always wanted recognition for my work, I just never expected that I would get it before it was due for things I haven't done yet. It feels dishonest.

That's very interesting. There are two men here, Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway, who were featured in a novel by my good friend Scott Fitzgerald. And yet here they are. This is most unusual in so many ways.

Indeed, I do know that, sir...! But don't worry, like I said; if anyone hunts you down for hurting me, I'll just have to hex them! Ha!

And yes, I am a witch, sir. Sorry to spring that on you, but - well, I think you've handled it very well, rather...!

Aww, I think that there's nothing "dishonest" about it, rather. I mean, you will eventually write it, and even if you learn of it before you get around to writing it... well, I'm willing to ignore that, really, because otherwise, time travel -- well, just -- ugh! the headache! There's a reason why only the Department of Mysteries, and the Unspeakables within, make any effort at trying to understand it...! Hah! Sorry, Mr Hemingway, sir.

Indeed? That's -- interesting, rather, indeed...! I wonder if this JK Rowling person may be on the island somewhere, as well. I'd LOVE to pick her brain about why she wrote Harry Potter as a bloody well orphan whereas in my version of events of reality -- well, his Daddy at least, survived the attack on his family...!

Yes, well I've already met a woman from another planet, who was entirely blue in complexion. A witch is hardly a stretch of the imagination.

I'm aware of the books, but I won't read them. I won't even skim. It wouldn't be right. It wouldn't be satisfying. The words have to be my own, my absolute truth, or they're nothing. It gives me confidence in my own work, but that is all I will take from it. A little reassurance.

It's possible. Anything seems possible here.

You're very excitable. It's quite exhausting to read.

Oh gosh, I am sorry about that, sir. Honestly, I DO get excitable when I think of what's happening, or may be happening back home... I mean, what if they're happening the same way as the books, without me there? What if Harry really IS an orphan now...?

Ah, I see... I think I saw the same woman on the network, just a couple of days ago. Interesting, isn't she....?

Ah yes, that's an excellent way to deal with being thrust into the future, rather...

I think so, too... I should look around for her.

There's little point in thinking about what may or may not be happening back home, because you're never going to get an answer either way. And even if you could, there's nothing you can do about it now. Spend your time worrying about the things you can control, not the things you can't. I left a wife and child at home, but what good will it do to worry about them now? I can do nothing. It would just drive me insane.

Yes, she's an extremely intelligent being, and very interesting to speak with.

You have to deal with these things in your own way. Everyone copes differently.

I'll see you soon. There is a gym at [location].

Alright, and here we got off the subject at hand somehow...! Would you still care to spar with me, Mr Hemingway...?

[Ooc: Because if you DO, well... could i ask you to maybe set up the thread? >___> Because I TOTES forgot the library would be closed tomorrow, on account of Independence Day, so... we've got to go get our time in today...! :-| sorry! But if you can't, well -- I can get to it after the boy's asleep tonight, at least! ;-D <3]
