[Idril]

Did you rest well, my lady?

Truly? No. But an unexpected cousin kept me well once Ardamire slept. Would you like help with bandages about your foot?

I am sorry. I watched the sunrise on the beach this morning; I did not sleep either. Is the child well?

Yes...I am afraid I got them dirty in the surf.

The sea salt will help keep infection away. But I will come wash it and replace the bandages. You must keep it dry, Tuor, or things will fester.

As for the child? He's sad.

Thank you. I have had worse than this, and I still live.

I am sorry for it. Do you think he would like to come visit me tonight?

But this place is strange and you do not know what ailments may be in the wilds when you travel. Your body is unfamiliar with it.

Please, take him.

Yes, he can stay with me tonight. I shall be glad to have him.

You don't need to worry about me, you know. I've lived twenty-four years with no one looking out for me.

I worry for you now.

It is strange to me, that you should care so much.

If you allow no one else the privilege of caring allow me at least.

I will allow you that, but I am not a child that needs constant care,

I know it. I have not brought you your morning meal, or washed your hair with Eärendil, or dressed you in the day's clothing.

I care for your health, if you should need items for your journey, or if your clothing needs mending or your sword sharpening, and aye if you have wounds that need tending.

Itarillë...are these...things that you usually do for me?

Wash my hair, dress me, care for me so intimately?

[info]itarille

Nay! I have one child to look after without adding you to his morning routine. Be gone, do your own washing and dressing.

Good! I was rather horrified that I had become a child again.

I should I hope I would not become so helpless. Although bathing with you would perhaps not be so unpleasant.

Foolish man, my chores would be endless if it were the case. And I have would not mind undressing you for such a cause.

Perhaps we will, in time.

We should talk. I would like to talk to you, Idril. About...

About everything.

Aye, then let us speak. I have an errand for you and the other men.

An errand? What errand do you have for me, my lady?

To toil in the fields so we might begin the spring planting. It must be cleared and made ready.

[info]tuor

You want me to plow the fields?

I have not done such a thing since I was a thrall to the Easterlings.

You and the other hale men capable of work. I will call to work all those that might aid you, and you shall lead them. And if none should volunteer then I will work with you, I am not so frail or haughty to work the fields myself.

Very well.

But come by now, lady. You said you would care for my foot, and yet you are not here yet.

A moment, sir, I will be along shortly. I must collect the boy.

Ah yes, bring him by with a change of clothes for tomorrow. And whatever else he needs. I know little of children.

Surely you know he must be fed three times a day. With fruit and vegetables too!

Of course I know he must eat! But I shall serve him food for a man, not a for a rabbit.

Tch. Feed him well and give him goats milk.

Just a little.

We must get him used to it. Soon enough he will be a man.

Soon enough! Let him be a child for his mother yet, you foolish man.

Aye, a few years yet, perhaps.

Eru! Speak not of it, you devil.

Aye, but he will be a tremendously beautiful young man, I think. And there will be many ladies after our son. He will have his pick of the lot.

[info]itarille

That he will. For now my skirts are the only ones he clings to and I should be glad to keep him there.

When he is ready. Aye when I am ready.
