I dunno, I'm all for a party.

Did anyone notice that you're not really getting used to the silence of a big city that by all intentions should never sleep and keep us poor new inhabitants awake until the wee hours of morn anyway? ~~And Macleod doesn't snore nearly as hard enough to block it out.~~

If you need me, I'll be at the temple the next few hours. I used to be a monk too.

I'm beginning to think that you didn't deal with half the slaves I did during your life. She still asked. And I was proud of that! Because she asked something that went against all her twenty-something years of her life. Do you even understand how monumental that was?

As a result, I advised her not to give you dinner and come taste chocolate with me. And she did that. Without asking if it was right. Because she's a woman.

Rameriez always thought I was a little slow on the uptake sometimes, I'm not used to having roommates and Rachel hadn't lived under my roof for fifty years.

I never dealt with slaves at all, aside from freedmen. Most of the time New York still had slaves I was sailing from one spot to another. I think during the 1700s I spent more time at sea than I did land.

She's not even twenty-something. And I understand it and I'm trying to get through to her that she's her own person.

I hadn't realized she hadn't tried chocolate yet, I've got plenty of it in the cupboards.

First off, she isn't Rachel. Or Heather. Or whoever else you let get close to you. And you're not her dad, lover or husband.

I was a slave during this world's biggest civilizations, so I'm going to say this. Give it time, don't talk back and be patient. She's probably got post traumatic stress, and not just a tiny bit of it. Best thing would be to get her appointments with a shrink, but since we're notoriously lacking on this island, all of the above still applies. It took me ages to learn that I was my own person, especially after I was crucified for finally saying no to my master's wife's advances.

And it's not because she can get by on the network, that she can read the wrappers of whatever is in your cupboard, Macleod. Actually, I commend her for being cautious and not eating everything in sight.
