About how to be 'mom' to someone who's more than a decade older than I am.

I think... Being a friend to them is more important than being a mother at this point. I think in the long run it would make you both happier. And it would be easier to get to know someone on that level than on the Mother Child level.

But he doesn't seem to want me to do that, but to try and have that mother/child relationship. What kind of mother would I be if I rejected him?

I'm not saying reject him. Just maybe just sit and get to know each other over tea? Because I think that's what has to happen before you can have a Mother/Son relationship. I think the rest will fall into place once you get over that hurtle.
