There was talk a few weeks ago about people looking for sparring partners, but the kid in charge of that vanished. I'm thinking about setting up a dojo for people who want to keep their martial arts skills up or learn something new. Any interest?

I'd be interested. I don't think we've spoken yet, I'm Robin.

Ah yes, I thought I'd heard that you'd shown up here. Connor Macleod.

Did you know they told stories about you even up in the Highlands?

Good to meet you Connor.

In my own time bards had begun to tell some stories, but I am only now beginning to realise how far they have travelled and how long they have endured.

Likewise.

Well I'd heard the stories in the 1520s, they've been cleaned up quite a bit since then for modern audiences it seems. The ones they told back home had you fighting against the sassanach alongside William Wallace so you can't believe everything that comes out a storyteller's mouth.

So I'm assuming you're handy with a blade as well as a bow?

That's certainly a new one. It was Saracens I fought against in the Holy land.

My weapon of choice is my scimitar, it's of Saracen design.

Yes, well. The Saracens were far away, they might as well have been fairies for all we knew at the time. The lowlanders and the English were our enemies back then.

I've fought against scimitars, nice blades. I prefer my katana but a good Damascus steel scimitar is a fine weapon.

I imagine you have a story or two you could tell.

I've fought with other swords. I suppose it is a familiarity thing.

After nearly five centuries? Many stories, but I usually only tell them when drinking.

It is, you want to have a weapon you know intimately if you're fighting for your life.

I'm game. I can swordfight, but I'm not so familiar with other types of fighting.

Heh. If you're interested in learning an unarmed style I'm sure we can accommodate you in that as well. What kind of blade do you use?

Backbiter's a double edged sword, modeled after the Greek xiphos.

Ah. I've fought against a few Greeks who kept that style. It can be a nasty weapon. Bronze, iron, or steel?

Tempered steel down one side, and Celestial Bronze down the other.
