That's a good thing to be confused by, and a conundrum that I can't answer without tests that I haven't ever thought to run on him and Tommy before. It could be that you and Miguel look enough alike that the time ripple got the two of you confused, but I don't think they're sentient.

He's usually scruffy, then he gets to a certain point of scruffy and says "No, shock this," and then he's clean-shaven for a few hours before the cycle starts again. Every so often, he manages a week or two of no-scruff.

Oh good, the scruff does have a special place in my heart. But nice and smooth is good too, no offence. And speaking from experience, I don't know how you do it, growing a beard is itchy.
