Other me is six at the moment. Almost seven. I met him and he knows who I am and he thinks it's cool. "We're like all the Mr. Jakes," he said.

And I know that when he goes back and it's two weeks after his seventh birthday, Gabri's going to break a plate because he's a toddler and he's clumsy at times and our dad's going to yell and swing for our ma because she didn't stop a two-year-old bumping into a table. And seven-year-old Miguel's going to get in the way of that fist and get a concussion and a broken wrist out of it. Our ma will tell the doc-in-a-box that I he fell down the stairs. Again. And I didn't tell him to duck or to just stay out of the way and keep Gabri safe (although he's going to start doing that soon after his wrist is knitted). Or how to avoid all the rest of it until he goes to the Alchemax school.

And I killed some of the French soldiers through the door, and I hated it. And my head's a mess.
