Kytana and been tracking the heart for weeks. It was not easy with the level of corruption that flowed through it. Higgs. There was no mistaking that.

She had isolated what she felt within the long connector tube that kept them afloat. But because of the metals, and the different machinery even that was show going. So she sat her legs folded together, as she reached out with the Force, in deep meditation, in the middle of the flow of the station. She knew it was dangerous, especially with how things were. But some risks had to be taken, otherwise things would continue to deteriorate. She knew Willow was in good hands should anything happen to her.

Ben was close by, monitoring both Kytana as she navigated through the Force, and their surroundings as well. Not that he expected an attack from any of the inhabitants on the station. No, he was wary of hidden traps left behind by Higgs, for example, or snares within the corruption itself, like eddies within a turbulent river that could pull the unsuspecting down with them.

Kytana was very much the opposite of an unsuspecting swimmer in a river too fast for her, but Ben still felt that he should keep watch. So he sat opposite his friend, mirroring her meditation pose, but not nearly as deep within the Force as she was. Every so often, he would let his mind brush against hers to let her know he was still there, acting as an anchor if she should need it, and he kept watch.

She was grateful for those gentle brushes. Especially when the weight of the shadows grew heavy. She understood the reason why the beings of this realm were in the shadows, the weight upon them was greater than anyone living would have ever experienced. Even the well aged among them. But Higgs also still had his claws set into them, and due to their brief interaction she knew there were holes in her barrier against his remnants. But as far as she knew she was the one that had ever put her hands on the stone they referred to as the Heart. And the only one with experience with the Darkside added to that.

It felt like hours had passed. Fruitless hours. Slowly she drew herself out of the meditation. Casting her hand through her hair, she let her frustration show. "Tell me, is there any such thing as a retired Jedi? Because I think..." It was there through her despair and frustration that she felt it. A little glimmer of what once was. Her eyes widened and she jumped up from her seated position, not like someone that was nearing the marking of a battle worn five decades, but someone fresh to the academy.

"We are not far." It was that sliver of hope that she needed.

Ben had sensed when she began to tighten her focus once more and come out of the meditation, and did much the same. However, since he hadn't been anywhere near as deep in the Force as Kytana had been, it didn't take him anywhere near as long to resurface. He had been on his feet, walking slowly around where Kytana was sitting when she'd stirred enough to start moving. He'd even been about to explain about the Lost Twenty, the only Jedi to have resigned from the Order in all of its recorded history, but then Kytana jumped to her feet.

"I take it you've had a sudden epiphany," he remarked. "Would you mind sharing? I could help search, now that you know what we're looking for. I can tell you about the Lost Twenty some other time."

"Just when I was about to lose hope," Kytana stated as she nodded confirmation to his question. "It's.. something felt more than I can explain. And it comes with warnings. Higgs' influence is still over the heart, and there are the shadows." She didn't know if he had felt them during his meditation or not. But she held her hand out to him, ready to share what she felt.

She did want to hear about the 'Lost Twenty'. It would shed some light on the differences between teachings between their ages of learning. She knew if anyone tried to leave the order in her time, an attempt to cut them off from the Force would have been made. As it had happened more than a few times before her age. And with her.

Ben reached out to Kytana with both his hand and his mind. "We will deal with the remnants of Higgs and with the shadows as and when they appear, my friend," he said as he took a firm grasp of her hand, and waited for her to impart some of her new-found hope to him. Not that he himself had lost hope (when it came to Station matters, at least. Back home was a different matter altogether) but it was hard to avoid the general feeling of the population when things were getting increasingly more weird as time went on. Any chance to help set things back to normal was a chance to jump at, he felt.

Kytana closed her eyes the moment that Ben took hold of her hand, physical connection always did make mind insertion easier. It was like opening the door. But she wasn't pillaging his mind for information, she was giving up some of her own. Which was impossible to do without sharing all she knew, and felt, when it came to the heart. That pure innocence, and hope, from when she touched it the first time. To the shadowed corruption that made the heart hard to track now. Though that little glimmer of hope was what she felt, and also what she shared with him.

And when she had shared all she could about the heart, she held onto his hand, and opened her eyes. Just in case he needed the support. "Do you understand now? I am not sure what you can do with that information, but I shared what I thought was pertinent." With an old Sith trick. But she kept that bit to herself.

Ben opened his own eyes - when had he closed his? - as he felt the sharing come to an end. The memory of the purity from before, the darkness that clouded everything and the faintest little spark, it all resonated deep within him and reminded him of Anakin. Luckily, he'd made himself watch all the holos of Anakin's story a few times by now, and so he knew that the final chapter of the tale was one of redemption, that small sparks of hope could be rekindled into blazing fires. So it would be with the Heart.

"I understand," he said with a smile and a brief squeeze of her hand, and let her see the comparison he'd drawn. It was only fair, after all.

"Both of us know what to search for now," he continued, "what it needs to feel like. We can triangulate now, and work out a location rather than simply a direction to walk in."

Kytana was thankful for that share. It showed when she squeezed his hand in return. It was not unlike their own tales. History did repeat itself after all. Her, Anakin, Kylo... she was sure there were many more in between. "Yes, but I fear you and I will not be able to handle the curing of the Heart on our own. It may take all the ones that are, ... Different." Because just through her meditation it felt like a monumental task.

"But the first task is now mine and yours." She felt a little wrong sharing that burden, but two heads were better than one. And something she had noticed was Ben was surprisingly quick. And she didn't doubt the two of them together would be able to come up with a solution to the corruption problem.

The new brewing problem was a little distracting.

There was a strange thing happening on this station. This place was different from anything else. It had started a controversy. Especially since Ylligth had tried to make contact. The fool. Young blood - thought he was destined for greatness - he knew nothing about the old ways. And the old ways so far were working. At least on the planets. More and more had let them in. More and more were sympathetic to their cause. They understood that their kind belonged here. That a great injustice had been done to them. Most importantly, they saw that a deal could be achieved. It was beneficial to everyone. At least, those who helped them.

But the people here were different. They already had that power and from what they had learned, they did not want it. It had led to discussions. Of course, Ylligth pushed his new found connection, said it was useful. In the eyes of the other Ka'garan, someone who did not help them for their own sake was a liability. They would eventually turn on them. They had done so before. The old wounds still had not healed. Legend was whispering tales of caution. Time had taken away understanding and reason. The young generations were rattling against those tales but the leaders stood strong. There was a way things were being done and the last time they had strayed from that path betrayal had brought ruin to their race.

But they had found something here... a source of power. A connection to the magical creatures on this station. On and off, they had investigated it, started to manipulate it and see what happened. Some reported successes, said that it could bring about a change in the people. Others thought that was nonsense. Udrilth belonged to the first group. He felt the stone that lay in front of him was the key. Maybe not just to the people here but to something more.
