I had a suspicion that the future would be even more prone to all encompassing frenzy and flightiness.

Seems that I was right.

On what are you basing this observation, sir?

Flighty for some, perhaps. A necessary and life-saving development for others.

Does it displease you?

When you put pen to paper and write a letter, there's time for reflection. This seems too easy a way to dump any thoughts you might come to regret later.

I don't think I shall pursue this much further. But Rufus might enjoy it.

No doubt that is true, I agree with you. But again, I must reaffirm that for some it is a necessity. We don't all expel our every whimsy into the world for others to fall upon. Be assured of that. Nor to we all desire to devour the carrion of other people's minds.

Well, it's not for everyone.

This is a rather new development for me. Maybe I do judge a bit too hastily.

May I have your name?

Oh, you're from a less technologically advanced time-period? How exciting! I apologise, yes, it must be a little difficult for you to suddenly find yourself surrounded by such things.

Q. Is my name. All I have been encouraged to divulge, at least.

Something in our souls might hunger for days of old, for more simple times, hence it's only natural to find it exciting. But yes, I guess I need to concur- I committed suicide in the year 1936.

Robert Frobisher. It's a pleasure.

There are many people here who will gladly give you a brief induction to the ways of the previously modern world, should you wish for it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I sincerely hope that you find happiness here. Or at least something to better your experiences in life. I've known a great many people take their lives, trust that I'm not judging you, please.

Your name sounds familiar to me. But we haven't met before, have we?

When my mood improves. It comes and goes, you see-

And my hypotheses came true. It's all I can ask for.

I'm afraid not.

I understand. I do understand.

That is true. A proven hypotheses is a wonderful thing. So congratulations on that.

I don't know what it is, it's not important. Just an odd familiarity. Not quite deja vu... I'm rambling. I apologise.

Depends on how you quantify it, I think. And really, this little island is so separated from the rest of everything, you're not really getting a full picture of the possible frenzy.

You could also look at it as fostering greater connectedness among people. And offering new avenues for creativity.

I've no doubt that all these marvels were borne out of creativity, but there's only a finite amount that all this can give. As for you and I, our paths would have crossed before too long.

You don't think that's true of any medium? The technology may be different but it's still just people behind it, capable of astonishing things.

It's true, this place is small enough that everyone will meet eventually. I'm Ariadne.

How about the means to make music?

When are you from? Because I would submit that there have been some astonishing developments in the last sixty years or so.

A pleasure, Robert.

I robbed myself of my life in the year 1936 - I fail remember the date. And came here.

What kind of developments?

Amplifiers. Rock and roll. Synthesizers. Electronica. John Cage, Dave Brubeck, the Beatles... I don't even know where to start, it's overwhelming.

And I'm sorry. That you felt that was your only option.
