Does anyone know anything about preserving food? Ma taught me the basics of jarring vegetables but that's about as far as I know and I think I'd like to start storing some. Just in case.

I know quite a few tricks I'd be happy to teach you.

That'd be great. I know we been lucky and it's not something we've had to worry about but I'd rather be safe.

It is best to be safe. Being born before in home electricity was even a thing, I know several different canning techniques.

Buildin' a larder goes a long way as far as preservation goes, too.

Is it real cold, and deep?

We had a lot of dried stuff when I was growing up. I mean, we had a...refrigerator I think you call it...but in a desert like where I lived, drying stuff or smoking it is pretty well necessary for long trips.
