So how many doctors do we have in this place? Since my doctor didn't come with me and we're apparently stuck here I need to get a new one. It isn't an emergency but I'm fIve months along with twins so I want to get that taken care of soon.

I have a doctor you can borrow.

Borrow? I think that's going a bit far, I just need him for check ups and the like.

Hello, that would be me! I'm John Watson, one of the doctors on the island. There is also Dr Banner, who I believe has a little more experience with obstetrics, but we've had quite a few pregnancies on the island, now, so you're in good hands.

The John Watson? I'm guessing the one who offered to lend you to me is Sherlock Holmes? This is taking some getting used to...

You are trained in 20/21st century medicine right? Just making sure I'm understanding everything.

If you're talking about the psychologist Dr John Watson, of the 'Little Albert' infamy, then no, but I get that a lot. Oh- no, yes, that is Sherlock Holmes. You must have read my blog? Then yes, I am The John Watson, I suppose.

Yes, of course...

Your blog? Oh. Right. Um, no, but I must have heard about you from that back when the internet still worked.

Good. This place has been so confusing I just wanted to make certain you and I were talking about the same thing.

Oh, well I suppose we were in the papers a fair bit back home.

Yes, it is a terribly confusing place, I'm afraid. You sort of learn to just go with it after a while, keeps you reasonably sane.

I suppose that makes as much sense as anything.

I'm Bridget Reese, Dr. Watson, pleasure to meet you.

Possibly a slightly less confronting introductory conversation, but I'm Nina. I'm not a doctor, but I am a registered nurse. Everyone knows nurses stop doctors from accidentally murdering all their patients.

More seriously, if I can help you at all, please let me know.

Confronting? Oh you mean the sexual stuff that's been going around the last day or two?

Hi Nina, I'm Bridget. Not having doctors murdering their patients is an excellent idea! We didn't really have formal doctor/nurse type things where I was from but my doctor had actually made it through medical school before everything went to hell so I counted myself lucky.

I certainly will! This place is kind of confusing but it is interesting.

Yes. But, for the most part there's no sense in keeping quiet about these things.

Nice to meet you Bridget. Plenty of them deny it, but it's true. Of course, having said that, honestly the doctors here are very trustworthy, capable doctors.

It really is. I'm still not used to it and it's been months, are you settled with somewhere to stay? How long ago did you arrive?

I'm not really one to throw stones about it, it would be kind of hypocritical for one thing.

Likewise! That's very good to hear, my doctor was a good friend of mine and I trusted her completely. It'll be hard to find that level of trust with someone new, but I appreciate the reassurance.

I showed up yesterday afternoon. I'd laid down to take a nap back home and woke up out in the snow! There was a room key next to me so I have a place to stay but thank you very much for asking.

It would be good to meet more people. If I'm going to be stuck here I might as well make some friends.
