Well, she thought that she'd never see him again but then her guard saw something attached to one of the trees. It was a note from the young man. He told her of his love for her and how he hated that he would never get to see her again. And he told her exactly how to get to their new house.
She told the guard that she was going whether he wanted her to or not, so he decided to go along with her. He sent a messenger back to the king and queen saying they were going to be late and they followed the instructions to the new farm.
When she got there, she saw that they were getting ready for a wedding. She thought for sure that her young man had found another love and that it was his wedding. Her heart was broken and she wanted to go home, but the guard told her that she needed to wait. That she at least needed to let him know that she was okay and that she had found his note.
So she went up to the house and knocked on the door and the young man answered. He looked very handsome in his suit and it just made the princess want to cry, until she saw that the young woman who'd made dinner for her was wearing a beautiful wedding dress. It was her wedding, not the young man's.
The princess and the young man sat together at the wedding and they held hands and never let go. They danced at the reception and then went for a walk and talked and talked again. The family invited the princess and the guard to spend the night but she had to get home. She gave him the ribbon from her bodice and promised that she would return, even if she had to run away. They wouldn't spend any more time apart than that evening.
