I'm hardly going to stop a lady in the middle of adventure to request he stitch up my trousers, or other articles of clothing, and I wouldn't suggest you do either, you will end up with a very sore cheek. It's a very important skill that shouldn't only be laid at women's doorstep. If your cheek is going to be sore there are better reasons than sewing.
But, writing and casting spells is very important work. I guess that would be a good reason to stop practicing the lute. How about you practice through the finger pain, to develop callouses, but when your hand starts to ache it's time to take a break. Does that sound good to you?
