Ah, you see the stones are not native to this universe. They do not act in the same way as they would where they come from. This is why this universe is not destabilised despite the imbalance of the stones. Effects created with them can be achieved in two possible ways: a) you influence the object directly. However, this will only ever create small effects; b) you use the stones to influence the powers of this cosmos. It works fine. Usually, they connect with them and let go once the effect has been created. My use was too rapid though, even though it were only small effects that were evoked. Instead of letting go, the stones are now chocking parts of the cosmic powers around us.

All you need to do is disentangle them. I have made progress but it is a slow process.
