Not to brag, but I can lift a glass with my left hand.

Impressed? I thought you might be.

I am very impressed! I take it you're learning how to use the prosthetic?

Yes indeed. It is far beyond what my 19th century mindset could imagine.

And knowing how much trouble this one question could get me into... What all can you do with it so far?

I think you like a little trouble more than you care to admit.

A great many things. Lifting, pulling, pushing... I’ve been learning about the different grips possible, so I do not drop the glass by being too gentle, or smash it by being too firm. I never considered it such a delicate balance. I cannot yet open a jar or tie a knot or anything that requires a little more precision, but I am assured I will with patience and practice.

There is an addictive rush that comes from it, I admit. I get the same when I see you, and these messages

Opening jars is very important. As are untying knots.

I know precisely what you mean.

It is. Although, I suppose I could hold the jar with the prosthetic and do the twisting with my right and et voilà! But knots I must simply practice. And buttons.

Do you? Do you get joy from trouble as well?

I suppose the Velcro is still coming in handy. It is a shame I don't have many ties for you to practice on. Only buttons and buckles.

Yes, to a certain degree. I certainly get a rush from taking a risk, but whether or not it's worth it is highly dependent on the outcome. Conversely, that lack of predictability or certainty is exactly what makes it thrilling in the first place, and so by it's very nature one cannot know if it will be 'worth it' before taking the leap.

Velcro is a wonderful invention with a very satisfying sound. That truly is a terrible shame about the ties, but buttons are very tricky indeed. And I had not even began to consider buckles.

I often wonder if your second name is Trouble.

It does! It is so nice to rip apart I find myself lingering over my old maternity clothes just for that hiss. And ties, well they are devils bane if you have no one to help you with them, because they are so often stuck in the back of dresses. So I replaced all of mine with buckles.

And why is that? Do I give you the same 'addictive rush'?

I see, how interesting. I should have considered buckles more carefully after all.

Yes, but more? I'm not giving away too much am I?

Yes, you should. They are quite handy. The offer the appropriate tightness without needing any help. And they're not too hard to unclasp. Oh, my trousers have laces but, they aren't difficult.

Oh, yes. Far, far too much. But that does not mean that I object.

Well that is promising. And I’m sure with a little practise I will be quite adept at all manner of fastenings.

Oh good. I almost said more. But I wouldn't want you to object.

I could help you with practice, if you like?

There might be some euphoric happiness with the addictive rush.

Absolutely. It would help with finer precision needs, don't you think?

So much happiness as to call it euphoric? I cannot what I have done to cause that, but I should be very well pleased to have the credit for even a little bit of your happiness.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I don't know what you've done either. Do you know any spell work? Black Magic?

Perhaps our next walk should be while Robin helps with the horses.

Oh, yes, I am a powerful sorcerer. I think you must have some magic of your own, though.

Yes, I’m sure he would find my fine motor skills incredibly dull after all.

I knew it! But, I am sorry to say you are simply drawn in by my bold charms. Because I have not a lick of magic to me.

Yes, that too, but I noticed how he rolled his eyes at us the other day. There is no reason that he can't go play rather than be a chaperone. And I'd rather not have a chaperone.

Ah, such a weak mortal man I am! Unable to resist your womanly charms, indeed.

And there you go again, drawing me in...

I think you may be a special case. Not many men do. And not many men see them.

I can't help but wonder how Darcy would feel about us shamelessly talking of buckles and ties, and buttons, without a chaperone. If he were not in isolation

Then I shall consider myself very fortunate indeed.

Do you really consider he might think badly of us? He's a first born gentleman who had responsibilities and duties placed on him we can scarcely imagine. I was a younger son and my family lost all my respect when Ah. I simply mean that I think he holds himself to a much, much higher standard than he has for anyone else. Do you mind what he thinks? Or anyone else?

I consider myself just as fortunate to be worthy of your spells.

I don't think he would think badly of us, but he might think us in the need of a chaperone. Because neither of us are capable of not trying to charm the other. But no I don't care what they think.

And I know the weights that Darcy carries, as my parents only child and a woman, even if I am bold and speak my mind, I wasn't supposed to. And I did hold my tongue more times than not when I accompanied my father at the meeting of the nobles every month.

He may not judge us, but despair at us, then? I would consider that a fair response, I think.

Exactly. Like a pair of youths eager to get each other alone, so they could get up to mischief. You don't judge them you just... Say hello.
