Cerise chuckled into her drink. "Modern's the nicest word I could think of." Her eyes lifted, looked past Ruby to the people coming and going. So far, no faces she recognised. In some ways that was good, in others it wasn't. Loneliness, unfortunately, was a feeling Cerise was becoming reacquainted with. Not having to attempt to make friends outside of a small circle for nearly a decade had that effect.
She nodded. It made sense, but it seemed risky as far as she was concerned; sibling loyalties would always override the mission, or they should. Cerise wasn't sure putting siblings in the field together was a good idea but then she wasn't calling the shots. If she was, this place would have been significally different. For one, none of them would be here.
"I suppose so," she said, both hands around the cup. She felt a slight pang in her chest at the mention of a sister. "I get that, knowing you can trust the people who are meant to be looking after her. Is your sister older or younger?"
