She could tell that the pain was minor, Derek's discomfort coming through dull rather than sharp and aching, there was some residual tiredness, fatigue and she couldn't help smiling at the sensation of fondness that lingered there. Derek's emotions were familiar, comforting. She understood how to separate his feelings better than most, since he'd been around her while they were both feeling so much change and growth in their lives.
"If that gets sharper, we're going, I don't care what you say." But she was glad he wanted to spend more time catching up than hobbling around the base. "I've been okay, yeah. Pennsylvania wasn't exactly like I pictured it would be," because up until the end she'd been hoping it'd have him in it too, "but I suppose we should be used to those disappointments, right?"
The fact that it'd taken this long for either of them to end up in one of these facilities was at least a good thing, "Did you go to Chicago?" Did he get in with the wrong people again?
