WHERE: The Cafe WHEN: (backdated) to Derek's arrival WHAT: Old friends catch up and share stories STATUS: Closed; in progress VIEW WARNINGS: Potential mentions of troubled pasts and Derek's injuries
Blast from the past wasn't really covering things right now; although if Orla had to be asked who from her past she'd be okay with seeing now, it would likely be Derek, especially over any of her step-siblings at least. But given that the last time they'd saw each other he'd been on a bus one way and she'd been on one the other way, there was a lot still unpacked there between them. Like where he'd been, what he'd been doing, how did he get caught?
Derek had always been about laying low, living a life without drawing attention, and Orla could appreciate that approach, she certainly appreciated it a hell of a lot more now too. It didn't mean she'd look back and regret going to Pennsylvania, or that she couldn't convince Derek to have come with her. They went their own paths for a reason and she was glad for the person she became following that path. It didn't mean she didn't miss Derek while she walked it.
Heading to the Cafe, slipping in to already buy herself and Derek a coffee each and some pastries, because it wasn't worth it if there were no pastries, before grabbing a relatively isolated table so that they could at least talk with some semblance of privacy.
