Who: Riley Hunter & Derek Holt
What: Tours and Introductions
When: 12 May, early evening
Where: Outside the barracks, and beyond.
Rating: TBD
Riley stubbed out his cigarette on the wall as he rounded the corner of the barracks, he slipped the butt into the bin before he cleared his throat and lifted a hand to get the attention of the person waiting outside. A brief interaction had been all that was needed to get Derek to come outside for a tour, figuring that it was easier to have a nice-to-meet-you conversation face to face rather than over the network, especially since he hadn't met the guy before. He pulled a stick of gum out of his inside jacket pocket and popped it into his mouth, chewing furiously as he lifted a hand to catch the guy's attention. "Evening, Mr Holt," he greeted, Geordie accent wrapping around his words as he spoke. "Would you prefer Derek? I'm Riley, one of your handlers. Figured it wouldn't hurt to come and meet you meself, give you a tour rather than letting you just wander about and get lost. This place is pretty big if you don't know your way around, like." He rubbed the back of his neck and then stretched his other hand out to shake. "Figured you can have a chance to as us any questions you might have while we're walking around, I can answer what I can, take anything else away." Honestly, this was good. It was helping keep his mind off his own drama, his own personal soap opera that was about to unfold, any minute now, and explode right in his face. He'd done a good job so far of avoiding Ben, not being noticed, letting the guy just live in peace and ignorance of the ridiculous and childish lengths Riley was going to in order to avoid being detected. But hey, it didn't matter right now. He was doing his job right now, and from the network chatter, Derek was a brand newbie to this whole thing; that was never an easy transition and Riley wanted to try and at least make it a little smoother than it had been for some of the others. Guiltily, he thought about Lydia, and how badly they'd both handled her arrival. At least her daughter was here now... "Sound okay to you?" |
