It was why they had a standing invitation to every Christmas, every Thanksgiving, graduation parties, any family gathering basically, Mom always asked if Holly/Evan/Marion was coming. Thinking about eventual freedom was, of what might come and how it might all dissolve. That was a bit of a pipe dream, and Kelly wasn't going to dwell on that too much.
It seemed unlikely that Chloe would every be properly ready for such things, talking about the accident, what happened to cause it, how she'd been thrown from the car and saved. There might never be a time for that conversation, and none of them were likely going to really want to have it, but Chloe had to be able to let go of the past at some point, or at least try to make peace with it.
