It had turned into one of the worst days that Orla could recall. She didn't mind the additional work, she could take that, she knew that Handler Cohen was letting her off rather easy all things considered. Extra PT, laps too, where she was just running until her legs felt like jelly, and helping the custodial staff, it wasn't the punishment of the century. And she knew the reasons; she wasn't being punished for the sake of it, she'd lied, to a handler's face, and she knew that Rachel knew they were lying. But, she couldn't just throw Sandy under the bus.
She'd expected the look on Sandy's face as she was told she was going to solitary would've been the worst thing that'd happen that weekend. She had not been prepared for the fiasco that was Friday night. She'd had to trim the ends of her hair, and while it wasn't a big deal, because her hair grew how she wanted, when she wanted, she still disliked doing it. But even the hot sink to thaw out the frozen ends hadn't helped. Her room had just been declared fit for return, and now this?
With her hair pulled short, wrapped in a fabric scarf and let to dry, Orla forcing herself to ignore the ice burn on her hand -she'd been in her room when Syreni had frozen her room, the sudden temperature drop seeping through her insulated wall without trouble and the pipes in the walls and ceiling freezing instantly. She had never regretted getting changed for dinner more than right now. The burn on her palm came from her touching her wall, and she knew she could've gone down to medical to get it looked at, but they were likely busy right then with Syreni and any other freezer related incidents that had taken place.
Instead, she dealt with it herself, got her hair thawed and then ambled her way back to Alejandro's room. She was just so goddamned tired already. The oversized sweater she'd wrapped herself in couldn't chase off all the cold, but she was hoping that would be dealt with from her company for the night.
