Dove had never heard another voice inside her head. It was always just her own -sure, she assumed that listening to music was sort of like hearing a different voice inside, but at the same time that wasn't one mind to another mind, that was a recording. The ears heard that, not a mental sort of 'hearing'. So Sandy's voice, loud in her mind, was enough to stutter her thoughts to a stop for a second.
Although it was literally just a second or two, since Dove already had some questions and things about hearing another person's voice in her head. Like, did Sandy hear everything Dove was thinking? Could Sandy read her memories? Did that mean Sandy knew about that time, in kindergarten, when Dove shoved Ricky into the sandpit because he'd been pulling on her pigtails? Was this something that she should worry about?
People were all up in arms right then about Eric, and Dove hadn't really talked to Eric at all, he wasn't her handler, so she'd really never thought that other handlers were too concerned with the agents and what they did. Marshall seemed to be a hands on kind of handler, and she thought he was nice enough -he wasn't babying them, not that she could see, but at the same time, he was still part of the Regiment and she didn't know where he really stood when it came to things like the SEA and super's and what their rights were.
But, he'd also organised that trip at Valentine's where they got to go to Cape Disappointment, which naturally had Dove thinking about the lighthouse and Bear, and really that had been a fun time, even with the weird swoopy feelings she'd gotten from the whole thing. And Marshall had indicated that there would be more things like that. So maybe he wasn't all about keeping them locked up there and not letting them do things.
She knew Eric had been the 'fun' handler, and that made more sense now that she knew he was actually a Super and was probably doing it just for some fun...
"Am I a little much? I'm sorry, sometimes my mind gets away from me." She felt the need to apologise, even if it was just for her own thoughts -it wasn't like she'd asked Sandy to read her mind, but maybe Sandy couldn't not read her mind. But that would indicate that maybe Sandy should have some kind of block too and she didn't which was really just bringing Dove back full circle to what was bothering her in the first place.
