WHO: Draco and Fleur
WHAT: A disturbing discovery
WHERE: Malfoy Manor
WHEN: Friday
RATING: TBA
STATUS: Complete

He hadn't realised how many books he had aquired over the years. He supposed most people would be surprised that he was such an avid reader, but he did have a lot of spare time, especially since leaving Hogwarts and it wasn't like he had any siblings he could have spent time with when he was younger.

He'd already packed most of his clothes, but it was hard to find a good time to collect the rest, because he didn't want to be around the manor when he was there, nor when his aunt was about, which was a lot. He had snuck into the house a few hours earlier, and had spent all of it locked in his bedroom, packing the last of his things, including his old Nimbus 2001. Of course, he had a Firebolt now; only the best and fastest for a Malfoy, but he was a bit sentimentally attached to the old thing.

Right, he needed another trunk, because he had squeezed just about as much as he could into his. There were plenty in the dungeons, though, so he just needed to go down there and get one. He moved as stealthily as he could, not wishing to get anyone's attention and soon enough was in the dark and dank cellars of the house. He started to open the dungeons doors, looking for room that held the luggage. One thing his mother was good at was making sure that even their storage was well organised.

The last thing he expected to see when he opened the fourth one along was a woman. He blinked, shut the door and stared at it. Why was there a woman in the dungeons? Was Malfoy Manor being used by the Death Eaters as a prison now? He frowned and opened the door again, glancing around before entering to get a closer look.

He knew this woman. Had seen her no so long ago, actually, when he was fact-finding for Yaxley at Gringotts. Was it his fault she was here? This was not good. He had no love for the Weasleys, but he didn't really like the messiness of being a Death Eater, either. With a sick feeling in his stomach, he left the room, closing and locking the door behind him.

He really tried to forget about her as he went about his business, locating a trunk, then taking it upstairs to his room to finish packing. When he was done, he stood in front of his bedroom mirror, hopefully for the last time and stared at himself. He'd always aspired for greatness, but had been hampered by the fact that he was afraid of getting hurt. That's the real reason why Potter had always bested him. That guy didn't lack for courage, even when he was afraid.

It took him half an hour, but he couldn't just leave her there. He knew her! If he handled it right, they would all assume she'd just escaped, or even been rescued. All he had to do was get out of here, without being seen. He went back to the luggage room, and selected the largest trunk he could find, then levitated it to the cell. It wasn't the most glamorous of rescues, but it would get them both out alive and that was the most important thing. He just had to get her to St. Mungos, then she wouldn't be his problem any more.

"You need to get in here, now!" he whispered, bending over her to help her rise, as she didn't look like she could manage it alone.

Quiet. It was something Fleur could do and outside another whimper as she settled into her new spot in the truck she was silent. The darkness and the confined place wasn't too bad compared to the place she left. Anything was better than that room and for some odd reason she felt like she could trust Draco Malfoy.

"Non," Fleur said softly even though they both knew the answer to that question. She wasn't sure what part of her body hurt more. Blinking back the tears Fleur kept them from falling as she relax a bit sinking into the sofa as she curled into a ball. One of the many things she had learned while in captivity was how to make yourself appear smaller and if you could do it successfully maybe she would get a break from another injury.

Her eyelids fluttered closed for a moment. "Puis-je rentrer chez moi?" She asked him in French, the English eluding her for a moment but she did want to go home. At this point she would give him whatever it was he could ever want if it meant a chance at waking up in her own bed.

Having the injured woman on his sofa couldn't possibly have made Draco feel more awkward. The sooner he got her away from here, and him, the better for them both. She could probably use a stay in St. Mungos, but she didn't seem in danger of expiring any time soon, so when she asked to go home, Draco decided that leaving her there with her family would be the best thing for everyone. After all, if she showed up at the hospital with her husband, any spies within the walls would report that and the idea of it being a rescue rather than an inside job.

"Je peux vous ramener chez vous, dites-moi où aller," Draco replied, having learned to speak French from his grandmother.

A few tears slipped from her eyes onto her battered face and Fleur wiped them away with her dirty hands with a sniffle. Typical she wasn't one to cry but it had been a long couple of weeks and being pregnant helped. The truth was no matter how much she wanted to go home she couldn't tell him any where she would need to go. All the Order's houses were protected and as she wasn't the secretkeeper for any of them it wasn't possible.

"I can't," she told him softly again her voice a but rough. If she was going to go home she was going to have to do it herself. Then again if she was going to do that she might be better off forcing herself to walk into a hospital. Either way people were going to ask questions. "I would have to go alone."

Maybe it would be best if she found some way to force herself to make it alone because then no one else would be implicated. They would think she somehow managed it alone. After getting her out it was the least she could do to repay Draco.

Draco seriously doubted that she could make it anywhere alone, though from Knockturn Alley, she had a better chance of making it to St. Mungos that anywhere else. His other option was to get someone she knew to come and collect her, though he didn't want that as it meant someone else would know his role in her escape.

"I could take you to the visitors entrance to St Mungos," he said, eager to get her out of his apartment. If he wore the hood of his cloak up, it would be hard for anyone that might see them to recognise him.

Fleur grimaced as she forced her unwilling body into a sitting position. It thanked her by screaming at her in the form of sharp sudden pains in her back and side to go with the general achy pains. She whimpered but ignored it. Once she set her mind to something she did it and even if it killed her she was going to walk on her two feet. There wasn't much of a choice.

"Let me borrow on of your cloaks," they were lucky in the sense it was a typical London day in the spring which meant rainy. It meant they wouldn't draw attention if they walked around covered with their hoods up. It also meant less attention as being part Veela Fleur naturally drew people's attention especially men's. Not to mention her clothes were filthy and bloody. "Just get me as close as you can and I will do the rest."

There was a part of him that wished he knew more healing spells. Perhaps, if he could help heal some of her pain, it might make it easier on them both. He could always Apparate them quite close to the entrance.

"Sure. Give me a second," he said, leaving her sitting there while he jogged up the two flights of stairs to his room to retrieve one of his older cloaks. He couldn't really stop himself from smugly thinking that it was still likely to be finer than anything her husband would be able to afford for her. As he hadn't taken a cloak to his parents house, he threw on his own, while he was there before jogging back to the lower floor where she was waiting.

"Can you stand?" he asked, holding out his hand to her. Once she was on her feet, he draped the cloak across her shoulders fastening it for her, before pulling the hood over her head, making sure all her hair was tucked beneath it. He flicked up his own hood, then awkwardly wrapped his arm around her, ready to Apparate. "Ready?"

Fleur nodded and to prove that point to him attempted to get to her feet, only to find her legs unwilling to support her. Yet the second time, with the aid of his hand, she found her feet. If they went now she was certain she could get far enough. She only had to make it through the door so that is what she thought of. Just getting to where she needed and putting one step in front of the other; the mentality had gotten her through the Tournament and it would get her through this.

"Oui, I am ready." As ready as she would ever be any way.

Draco exhaled, then Apparated them to the alley near the visitor entrance to St Mungos. Blessedly, the street in front of the deserted shop front was empty and Draco made up his mind he was going to get her to the door before leaving her here.

"Come on," he muttered, pulling them out into the street and making for the door as fast as he could while supporting her.

She nodded and did her best to keep up with him and trip over her feet as little as possible. Normally she would have reprimanded him for walking to fast but she didn't, she just tried to keep up. Who knew something so simple could be so exhausting but it was.

"Thank you," Fleur told him softly as they walked. She didn't want him to have to leave suddenly or something and not get a chance to at least say it to him. One day she would find a way to properly make it up to him.

He felt a weird sensation in his throat at her almost imperceptible gratitude, and couldn't wait to get away from her and back to his selfish existence. He was definitely not cut out for this hero stuff.

"Just don't tell anyone about this, and we're even," he said back as they reached the doors. He would have to make sure that he carefully cleaned out the trunk, and his sofa to remove all evidence of his presence in her life, and he didn't care if he never saw that cloak again. He leaned her against the glass window and waited long enough to make sure she wasn't going to topple over before making his way back to the alley, and home.

Fleur nodded in agreement figuring it was a fair trade off. Besides, she really didn't have anyone to tell. It wasn't like she was the type to go trading secrets with the Death Eaters. As far as anyone else was concerned she had managed to do this entirely on her own.

For a moment she stood there and watched him leave, grateful, before turning to stumble her way into the hospital.
