Who: Fleur Weasley and Astoria Greengrass
When: This morning
Where: The Carnival site
What: Random encounter Preparations!
Warnings/Ratings: Low-ish

One thing was true, Fleur was glad to have the chance to escape the stale stuffy air of the vaults at Gringotts but what she didn't want was to go walking around in the rain. It was officially spring in London and as if to prove that point it was raining. Her umbrella made a slight popping noise as she clicked it open, the enchantment she had placed on it keeping the rain from falling on her and chilling her. It never failed to amaze her the people that didn't think to put a water repelling charm on their rain gear or lacked the skill to be able to do so.

Impatiently she twirled the umbrella, made of a iridescent but transparent material in her hands, as they waited. The goblin beside her, the tiny man too, twitching with impatience as much as Fleur herself. There was one more person to accompany them on their initially survey of the Carnival preparations. Fleur was there with the goblin because they were providing a large lump of sums and they needed to make sure the money would be spent appropriately and not foolishly. Fleur was willing to bet this other girl was there because her parents had money and they didn't want their little girl doing something she shouldn't or to be too bored.

"Can we start now?" Fleur asked as their last member finally joined them. A stroll through what looked like a muddy field dotted with a handful of tents hardly appealed to her.

"I've already requested more tents, they said it'll cost more - which is where you come in. I assume you will allow for them in the budget." From what Astoria could see, every last knut was accounted for thus far, meaning there was nothing extra.

She rolled her eyes behind Fleur's back and made a face before she schooled her features and continued to answer the questions that were asked. "No one wants the Muggles to stumble upon this, so that was the first thing I asked about. Everything has been warded properly, and checked. They will be checked again the day of the Carnival. This way, we have time to make the proper adjustments, just in case." Astoria paused long enough to shuffle the papers she held. "I have been given a copy of all the permits in case you need them. To the best of my knowledge, they are all here."

"Depends on what will be placed in them," Fleur said simply as if it was obvious. There was no use spending the money on frivolous things if they didn't think they would draw a crowd. The candy vendors and food stuff could be left outside but the tents would be reserved for the acts. Even if one had the money there was no use spending it just to be pompous or showy. Fleur found that it was the mistake most with money made that irked her greatest.

Fleur glanced at the goblin besides her as he bit back a snicker. Goblings were always skeptical. "I will send one of the curse-breakers to check the wards." She said simply. "The Ministry is not always known for their perfect record." Especially when the Ministry was being run by a handful of Death Eaters. "And make sure the Oblivators are on call just in case." There always were a mistake with any event it was a statistical unlikely that not one person would get through but Fleur was more worried about what the Death Eaters in power would let through. Maybe she was being paranoid.

"I would like to see them or rather my companion would." She could feel the goblin beside her shuffle with impatience. Perfect records were essential to them. Without waiting for an invite Fleur wondered into the nearest tent, a mirror maze. She wanted to see the company's work.

"Given our lovely spring time weather, I would assume the tents would be placed about to help keep everyone comfortable so they'd be able to enjoy their night. Not to mention to help keep the food vendors from having to serve soggy food. Maybe canopies instead of full tents?" Astoria shrugged as she tried her best to keep the sarcasm from her voice. "But, what do I know. Right?"

"Send whoever you would like to send, I just need to let the committee know so they're aware." She quieted down a moment as she scribbled a little note to herself on her parchment. After she did that, Astoria handed over the paperwork she'd been given as proof that everything was up to code.

Astoria waited at the entrance of the tent, giving Fluer and her little friend a chance to explore the mirror maze on their own.

"Oui, lovely," Fleur said her voice colored by healthy skepticism. Maybe she wasn't a native but she knew better than to call the London springtime weather lovely. It was often damp, chilly and more often than not wet. It was a foolish statement to make. "Children often have impractical notions of what is possible. When is the last time you planned any such events on this scale? This is not a tea party."

Fleur turned her head as the goblin muttered something in his language and nodded her head adding a few remarks of her own. It had been a pain learning their language but it only made her better at her job. "Griphook says he will take care of the committee." Trust a goblin not to trust anyone but Fleur simply shrugged it off with an easy shrug.

Once she wondered from one tent to another. "They should add a few more illusion charms, proper ones. Ones that do not waiver with the uncertainty of the caster." The work was nice but it could be done better but then again Charms had always been her specialty. With a whispered incantation and a wave of her wand she spelled the tent ceiling to mock the murky sky outside. Hopefully the night of the carnival would be clear.

"He says also he would like another tour later when work is completed." Fleur was there mostly to act as a translator, not that the goblin needed it (he could speak English), but because it was a statement. "But he is willing to provide a little more funds than initially expected."

Apparently the french were more than just smelly. They didn't know sarcasm when they heard it. Astoria rolled her eyes and counted to ten in an attempt to calm down before said or did something that would get her in trouble. "I suppose the same question could be asked of you." 'A wedding planned by others and crashed by DeathEaters three years ago doesn't count.'

"I'll let them know what you suggest." She said flatly, as she watched Fluer mess with the work already done by adding her own charm to the ceiling.

"Wonderful. I'll set up another tour for the day before, if that's alright with both of you. The day of, all that'll be left are preparations on foods and to run through and make sure everyone's set for the night." By now, Astoria was more than willing to rush things along if it meant she could end the meeting.

"Plenty if you must know," Fleur said easily. "Where would you like to start? The personal domain or the professional one?" Some of them did have jobs and obligations to see to on a daily basis. Though she let it go because it wasn't worth fighting with a child over something like that. She had nothing to prove to her.

"I will let them know personally," Fleur snapped impatiently not sure she trusted the girl to see to anything considering her attitude and then who knew what she would say or if she would even really do it. "Since we seem to be an inconvenience you." The flat tone of her voice signaled nothing but apathy to Fleur and that wasn't counting she was trying to rush them.

"If you are in a hurry leave. I will walk about myself and see what there is to see." The perfectionist in her wanted to double check everything and admittedly a little more.

Astoria snorted and rolled her eyes, doing her best to bite back a retort. Obviously whatever it was that Fluer had hosted wasn't all that important or as extravagant as the Carnival, considering there was never any media coverage of it. At least, Astoria was a part of something that was going to be considered a grand event. And, it was a start for her.

"Since you seem to believe I am hindering the entire affair, I believe this is my farewell. Have a good day Mrs Weasley," She said with a wave before she turned to the goblin, "And to you as well, sir."

She handed over her stack of organized papers, the notes she written down during the walk on the top of the stack. Once it was handed over, she turned on her heel and walked off. Honestly, she was not going to stick around and continue to be berated when she tried hard to prove she could handle all of this.
